Does the hinge on this product have a spring loaded post to adapt to all skim openings?

You are correct. The two rods that stick out of the hinge are spring-loaded and will fit the majority of skimmers

What assurance do I have that the skimmer won't pivot on it's axis with the current pushing it, thus moving it from it's 90 degree perpendicular position to the side of the skimmer.

There is a plastic tab that extends approximately 1 1/2 inches from the finger clamps to prevent the skimmer device from moving east or west along the water surface. Other information on Skim-eeze The skimming device is made of a light weight plastic that also helps with the buoyancy of skimmer. Also this Product is no longer available.

Hi Margaret, this Skimeeze is a pretty good concept however we do not carry anything else like this item. If you can locate and provide your skimmer model to us then we may be able to locate a weir flapper door or floating skimmer basket weir that does also assist in both grabbing and keeping debris in the skimmer until the basket is emptied.
