I have a pool that someone actually took the light out of the pool and plastered over it. I am assuming that I will have to have that chipped out of there so I can put in a new light. How will I know what light fixture will work in there now? What all will I need to have an LED light fixture put in the pool?
Reply
Hi, Dewayne. Yes, you will need to determine the model or the size of the niche that is currently installed. You will need a niche along with a compatible LED fixture.

What are the different colors?
Reply
Hi, Myles. You can review the various color options in the PureLine PureColors LED 120V Owners Manual.

How far will these inground LED pool lights project?
Reply
Hi Joe, We would suggest a single light for a pool up to 18' x 36' and this light should fill the majority of the pool. Here you can see some Photos of the PureColors Light in use (see 1st and 2nd customer review). The first review is a single light on a 40' long pool.

I have a hayward fixture model SP 583L. i need a 100' cord and i would like the v2 bulb. it5 is 120 volt with a R 20 bulb. i'm not against installing a transformer to make it a 12 volt system. i think i would feel safer with the 12 volt. thank you

I have a Hayward SPO525sled100 fixture now that quit because the pool is salt and my lite says freshwater only. How do you know which lights will fit in its place ?
Reply
Hi Jerry, The PureColors Light Fixtures will fit in the place of the Hayward Colorlogic lights and would be the light we suggest. Also when the lights say freshwater only then standard salt pools are fine, the manufacturer means don't use with Sea Water. Salt pools normally run at 3,000 PPM of salt where sea water is closer to 50,000 PPM of salt.

I see that this fixture replaces Hayward SP0525 120V LED fixture, so therefor it should fit my Hayward SP0607U niche correct? I like this fixture and LED bulb as a replacement for my Hayward ColorLogic LED light due to easy and relatively inexpensive bulb replacement when bulb fails as opposed to replacing very expensive entire Hayward fixture assembly.
Reply
Hi Kevin, Everything you stated is spot on. Yes the PureColors will fit into the SP0607U niche. A lot of ColorLogic owners are switching over to the PureColors light because you can change out the bulb if the bulb ever goes bad.

I have a finite pool with an old light fixture but the only readable thing in the label is forming shell no. 425 120v 500w using chlorine water. Can this light b used to replace the old one?

I have a old 18x36 liner pool with a Pentair 600015 light. The kind with the rotating color wheel. It is in a gray PVC niche, but I am not sure of the niche credentials. I do know that it fits the mentioned dinosaur light. So, will this be a good replacement light?

Would this be a good replacement for a Jandy cphvleds100?
The Jandy only lasted a couple years and are close to $800
Reply
I have a jandy watercolors large light . They say the niche has to correct for safety reasons is this light a replacement that would be correct application and safe

Hi, Mark. We will need to know the model of your niche in order to confirm compatibility.
Reply
I need a 150' cord length. Is that option available for this setup/model.
Reply
That is unfortunately not a package that we currently stock. You would have to get the Pentair Amerlite light fixture and the Purecolors LED bulb separate.
Reply
If I am replacing Jandy WaterColors LED lights, do I need to worry about niche compatibility? Thanks.
Reply
Hi Jan, The PureColors will replace the Jandy WaterColors meaning they will fit in the same niche/can as the WaterColors. If you have multiple lights in the pool and you want them all to synchronize then they would all need to be the same brand.
Reply
Is the LED bulb already installed into the light fixture?
Reply
Debbie, no, the PureLine PureColors LED Bulb & Pentair Amerlite Pool Light Fixture Kit 120V 100' Cord is not shipped with the LED inside the fixture. The fixture arrives with a white bulb installed. Separate from that you will receive the LED bulb. You would simply swap the white bulb for the LED.

I have the Jandy aqua link system and would like to know if this light will work with the lighting control feature? I also want to replace the two Jandy CPHVLEDS100 Lights that for the second time in 6yrs failed! That is 4 lights @ $800 ea. Thanks in advance for you advise.
Reply
Hi, Joe. This unit is not compatible with Jandy's proprietary lighting feature on the Aqualink controller. It will have to be wired to an Aux relay in order to control this fixture.

Hi, Brett. This LED fixture kit can be used as a replacement for your Purex 100-3 model fixture.

I have the Hayward OnCommand Automation system. Is this light compatible with it?
Reply
No, it is not compatible. You will be able to turn the light on and off, but you will be unable to control the light colors. If you want to control it, you will need to go with a Hayward light. If you can provide the model of your current fixture, I can let you know what is compatible.

Hi,
I have a failed Hayward Colorlogic that was installed back in 2005. I do not know the model #, becasue i have not removed it from the pool yet. I understand that i cannot replace just the bulb, and that i will need to pull out all the wiring on this Colorlogic and fish in new wiring with a new light unit. Will this PureColors LED Bulb & Pentair Amerlite Pool Light Fixture Kit fit back into the niche that my colorlogic light was in? Or do i need to remove it and give you the model #? Thx!
Reply
Hi Dave, Yes this PureColors LED Bulb & Pentair Amerlite Pool Light Fixture Kit will fit back into the niche that your colorlogic light was in. The great thing about this set up is if down the road the bulb goes out then it is replaceable without needing to replace the entire fixture.

I'm told the PL5832 is the replacement for my CPHVLEDS100. Is this something a pool owner can replace on their own? Is this unit more reliable than our existing light that we had for 5 years and used about 10 times? Would just like something more reliable and not as expensive to replace if needed down the road. Thanks!
Reply
John, yes, this PureColors LED Fixture Kit - PL5832 can be used to replace the Jandy CPHVLEDS100 model fixture. Replacing the fixture is fairly simple just a little time-consuming. I suggest reading our article How To Replace a Pool Light Fixture to familiarize yourself with the process before making your purchase.

I was told via a newer response that I'd need to get the Universal Light Adapter Ring - 500C. Do I really need that? I wasn't told I needed it in this thread so I'm a bit confused as to whether I need it or not. As it's more than $100 I want to be sure!
Reply
John, We will need to know the model of your niche in order to confirm. If you have a Pentair, Hayward SP600 or Jandy niche, this fixture will fit without using the adapter.

With my old LED light.....to change colors I had to turn the light on and off. Is that the same with this light? And how do I do the light shows? Just making sure that I won't need to be buying anything else to have this light work. Thanks!

Yes, to scroll through the light colors including the light shows, you just need to switch power off then back on.

I know nothing about pool lighting and wiring. If I buy a new LED light that has color and pattern options, will my existing (plain white) light wiring work, or will I need to pull up my pavers to run the cord on the new light to my existing light switch?
Reply
Hi, Marjorie. You're unable to use the existing pool light cable. You will have run the new light fixture cable through the exist light conduit back the junction box. You can review our Poolside Repair: How To Install A Pool Light guide to see how it's done.
Reply
I've been told I'd need to drain my pool to a level that's below the light for the replacement procedure. But I read your step-by-step procedure and it shows the light being replaced without draining the pool. I assume there would almost always be water in the conduit so draining pool water would be unnecessary....and that we should just make sure the wires are dry when hooking them up right? It looks like there might be some kind if sealant at the back of the niche that has to be removed?
Reply
A pool does not usually need o to be drained to change the light. It is normal for water to get into the conduit behind the niche and sometimes homeowners have sealed that hole to the conduit if by chance there was a concern of that conduit having a leak in it. Also please be advised that you will need this light adapter to use a Purecolors LED light.
Reply
I'm including a pic of our current light ring. Can this be used to tell if we need to buy this other adapter? Just making sure I need to get the new adapter (or not).
John, We will need the niche info. If you have a Jandy or Pentair niche, an adapter will NOT be required.

Is this a particular model of a Pentair Amerlite Pool Light Fixture? Is the PL5832 the bulb model number...and this is a package? And we have to install the bulb? Just making sure I know everything about what I'm getting. Thanks!

Hi, John. Yes, this PureColors LED Pool Light Fixture Kit is a package that consist of the Pentair Amerlite Pool Light Fixture and the PureColors LED Bulb. You will have to install the LED bulb into the fixture.

If I only need a 50 foot cord is it the PL5831 I'd need instead of the PL5832?

My current light is the Zodiac CPHVLEDS100 for my previous question about whether we'd really need the Universal Light Adapter Ring.
Reply
If you have th original Jandy CP series light niche then you will need the universal adapter ring. If you want to be sure please locate the model number on the niche or maybe take a few images and send those to upload@inyopools.com so we can review and further advise.

The niche is around a foot and a half (or so) deep in water. Is this model number going to be easily seen if I dive down? The old light is just 5 years old if that makes any difference.

John, Yes, if the sticker is still legible.

is this kit compatible with pentair intellicenter automation? What parts needed to program light show from the intellicenter?
Reply
Hi. This light is not able to intergrade with the Pentair IntelliCenter System. It can be manually controlled by turning the relay off/on.

This light is amazing! Thanks for the detailed installation video -- it was a good weekend project.
One question: my old light had a stainless screw to fasten the light into the niche. The new light came with a bronze screw in place, but a stainless screw in a plastic bag, with a note that says "this extra stainless steel pilot screw is for use on new pool construction only. When replacing a light fixture in an existing niche, you must use the bronze screw."
OK, but why does it matter?
Reply
Hi, Adam. That is to ensure proper bonding/grounding between the fixture and niche.
Reply
Yes, but why would I have proper grounding with a stainless screw on a new install, but need a bronze screw when installing the same light into the same niche?

Don't know what type of light fixture I have, it appears to be original from possibly 60's or 70's, it wasn't easy getting the old crusty wires through but I got it. Will this light work for me? Housing is 10", see pics
Hi, Paul. It appears that you have an old Purex CHD Fixture. Yes, this Amerlite Pool Light Fixture Kit can be used as a replacement.

I am replacing two 13 year old Hayward Colorlogic SPO525LED100 that are in Hayward SPO600L1 Niches. I loved them, but the current generation must not have the same build quality with early failures. So am looking for a better option. Will these work in those Niches? will I need the wedge kits ? Thank you,

Hi Dwayne, Yes we would suggest the PureLine Pure Colors as a great replacement for the Color-Logic. These lights will fit in the same niche that your Color-Logic lights went into and do not require a light wedge.

Replaced an Intellibrite 5G last year. Unit lost almost all color after 3-4 months, only showing a weak blue now. Any idea why this happened? Should we have replaced all the wiring to the houset? Pool is 8-10 years old and the previous Intellibrite did the exact same thing with the previous owners. I want to replace this with a simple LED bulb unit. What do you suggest? Will I need a new niche? We have a 22000 gallon pool and I need a very bright light.

I suggest doing some troubleshooting with our Tips for Troubleshooting Your Pool Light http://www.inyopools.com/blog/tips-troubleshooting-pool-light/ possibly water is entering the fixture or traveling back to the junction box shorting out the light. The use of Cord Stopper to prevent this from happening. I will require the current niche model number to help make the correct suggestion for a new light to replace the Intellibrite 5G, there are different size lights and they will not all fit the niches that one or the other may have. There should be a service tag inside of the niche housing that we can use.

Hello. I just want to confirm that these lights will not work with the iAquaLink controller. I have two, what I believe to be, Jandy Watercolors in my pool and they went out last year. They lasted less than 4 years which seems odd for LEDs. I've bought a PureLine aux pump and installed it for a water feature and love it. I'd really like to replace the Jandy Watercolor lights because they are way overpriced and not realiable from what I've read and experienced. Thnak you!
Reply
Hi Rob, Yes this light will fit in your Water Colors Light Niche and I agree 100% that the integrated LED is way too expensive and when it goes bad you have to replace the entire light fixture =( The iAqualink would power this light on and off and by powering the light on and off you can cycle through the colors from the iAqualink. So you won't get the color display on the readout of the iAqualink but you will be able to switch color shows from the iAqualink.

Hi Nick, unfortunately, this light is no longer available however the Colorsplash LED light fixture will fit the Hayward niche model SP0600U.
