What salt level does the unit require?
Seems a bit smaller than the Hayward Cell...Can this be switched with the Hayward cell. And of course eliminate the Hayward altogether.

Hi Keith, This unit requires a salt level of 3200-3500 ppm. This unit will replace a Hayward Chlorine Generator and eliminate the controller, however you will have to re-plumb this unit into your lines.

Does the cell need periodic replacement? If so, how often and what is the cost?

The price is listed on this product page. As for lifespan, that depends on a pool. If size correctly a homeowner would hope to get 3-5 years out of a salt cell. But if your pool's chlorine demand is high and/or your total gallons is close to the cell's max rating you can wear it out sooner.

You always want to get a bigger system than your pool, your system will last longer that way. So that salt system would be great for the size pool you have.
