Dual/Var pump reccomendation to lower power use and improve filtartion? 20x60 (46k gal) w/old (7-10+ yrs?) single speed, <4' lift. Old sand filter and new 2-lamp UV cleaner effective up to 90gpm (4-lamp could clean higher gpm). Mix of 1.5" underground and 2" PVC (old pool). Currently pumping @ 80-90gpm for 9-12 hr turnovers to keep the water clean and clear. UV is good for cleaning and minmizing chemicals. Lack of gpm control has us handcuffed for efficiency. Suggestions?

Hi Rob, The PL2615 1.65 HP Variable Speed Pump with Smart Phone Control would be perfect for your situation. Or possibly even the PL2616 2.7 HP Variable Speed Pump with Smart Phone Control. The larger 2.7 HP would allow you to ramp up to higher speeds / HP when your demands required this higher setting. The smart phone control as well as the controller on the pump itself will allow you to dial the pump in to work as efficiently as possible. Normally you can expect to see a 40% - 70% savings on your operational cost with either of these pumps.

What filter should we get that would be compatible?

Good morning Diane, I can help you with that, I will need to calculate the flow rate so I can properly size your filter. If you can provide how many gallon pool you have and the distance in feet from your pump to your skimmers I will be able to calculate that for you.

I have a 16x32x52" above ground pool and would like to install a variable speed pump. i really like the idea of the phone control but is this pump to big for my pool ? (pool not installed yet) and can you recommend a filter for this as well.

The PureLine Prime Variable Speed Pool Pump 1.65 HP W/ Smart Phone Control - PL2615 is an ideal fit for your application. You must have 208-230V connection for the wiring and install it with hard plumbing (PVC). The Star Clear Plus 90 Sq Ft. Filter 1 1/2" Ports - C900 would pair well with the pump and provide proper filtration for your pool size.

Hello! I currently have a Hayward Super Pump 1 HP with 1.5" plumbing and 22,000 gallon inground pool. I would like to replace it with a variable speed with phone control and this pump seems to be the best choice...however: Since this is as 1.65HP and has 2" ports, would this cause problems? Can I just use adapters on the ports and run at a lower speed? Should I be looking for something else? Thank you!

Hi Eric, This would be a great pump for you and would not cause any problems. You could use these 1.5" to 2" adapters You will save a ton of money on your operational cost with this pump.
