How many hours per day should I run my pump?
Reply
There are many factors to consider; bather load, gallons of water, pump horsepower, type and size of filter just to name a few. A good guideline is 8-10 hours a day. On the cooler days and early and late season, you can cut the run time down to 4-6 hours because there is usually less swimmers and cooler water requires less chemicals. In peak season, when it is the hottest, raising the run time to 10-12 hours per day will help to keep the pool clean and circulating during it’s time of heaviest use.

Hello, I have an old Anthony pump and cannot really make out the nameplate. I can just make out AR, but that is it. It is a 2 hp motor and based on that, I believe it is an AR207-L. My question is if this variable speed pump would be a good replacement for the Anthony pump?
Thanks!
Reply
Hi Greg, Your Anthony Pump has a True HP of 2.6 HP so the PureLine Prime PL2606 Variable Speed Pump would be a closer match as on the high speed it runs a True HP of 2.7.

I currently have a single speed pump. I believe it needs to be replaced soon. The pool is about 36000 gallons. I did calculations and I thing I need about 5 GPM. It has a RPM of 3450/min. The question is, what is the difference between at 2 HP pump and and 2.75 HP pump? If I am getting the GPM's what is the HP giving me or not giving me?
Reply
Hi, Mike. The difference between a 2 hp and 2.75 hp is a difference of .75 hp which will also result in a higher flow rate (gpm) and power consumption. If the 2 hp pump is sufficient, no need to go with the 2.75 hp pump.

I currently bought a house with a pool that has the pumps not working. It has a Hayward sp3215x20 which is a 2 hp (2.20 THP) with a SF 1.10 . Which pureline pump would be a great replacement ?
Reply
I would recommend the Pureline Prime PL2606 which should be available in 7-10 business days. It has a total horsepower of 2.7 and uses an A.O. Smith motor that carries an 18-month warranty. It also comes with the unions for easier installation.

I have a pentair 2 horsepower sf_n1_ 2a part number 340040 what pump would fit that quieter and efficient
Reply
Hi Steven, Yes this pump would be quieter and also much more efficient than your current Pentair sf-n1- 2a. With your current pump, you can only run the pump at the high HP speed of 2 HP which costs quite a bit to operate. With this variable speed pump, you can run it at a full range of RPM's from 750 through 3450. Normally you will run the pump at a lower RPM setting which will save you on your operational cost, however, you still have the ability to ramp the pump all the way up to 2 HP if you need to. The plumbing ports on this pump are not in the exact same position as your Pentair pump so you will have some minor re-plumbing but it should not be too bad.

The ad said this is an EnergyStar pump but I do not see that listed in the manual or the webpage. I am looking for a pump that will qualify for the power company's rebate. Is this listed anywhere in the paper work as an EnergyStar pool pump?

Hi Pat, the PL2516 is not Energy Star Certified but the PL2605 PureLine Prime Pump is energy star certified. You can see the PureLine Prime Energy Star Listing Here.

i was running a super 2 pump 2 h.p. for years on a 1.5" piping, & was quite happy with it. I switched to 1.5 h.p hayward sp2300vsp with the recommendation of a pool pro & disappointed to say the least. I would like to go back to the same performance as my old super 2 pump 2 h.p. variable speed. im considering this particular pump due to its affordability. i would like to know if this pump is a drop in replacement for the hayward max-flo, piping wise. also need power consumption.
Reply
Hi Victor, this pump will be a more powerful pump then your Hayward sp2300vsp pump as this pump will output roughly 95 Gallons Per Minute (GPM) at 40' of head where the SP2300VSP outputs 63 GPM at 40' of head. Your old 2 HP Super 2 Pump would output 112 GPM at 40' of head so this pump would still output a little less than that pump. This pump is not a drop-in replacement for a Hayward Max Flo II so you will have a little re-plumbing to do.

Hi, pls provide the electric motor brand & specs for this pump. thanks.

Victor, You can review the full motor model specifications and pump performance curves on the last 2 pages of the owner's manual HERE.

Hello,
I have a Hayward Northstar pump - would this be a good replacement option. My current pump is 1 HP.

Hi, John. I will need to know if you have a Full Rate or Up Rate NorthStar pump and the TDH of your pool in order to confirm if this Titan VS Pump will be a sufficient replacement.

I am replacing a jacuzzi 2 hp single speed pump. What do you recommend i use for a variable speed replacement
Reply
Hi, Tommy. In order for us to recommend a suitable variable speed pump, we will need to know the actual model of your existing pump or the Total Dynamic Head (TDH) of your pool. To calculate the TDH of your pool use these guides, How To Measure Total Dynamic Head With Gauges, How Do I Calculate Feet of Head for My Pool? or How to Size a Pool Pump.

Hi I have a Jacuzzi 2 hp pump. I am looking to go to a 2 hp VS pump Is thios a good replacement?
Reply
Hi, Thomas. This pump might be able to work if the Total Dynamic Head (TDH) of your pool is within this pump performance range. Use our How to Size a Pool Pump, How Do I Calculate Feet of Head for My Pool?, and or How To Measure Total Dynamic Head With Gauges to confirm.

What repacement would I need? Pool has jacuzzi and waterfall
Hi, Alison. You will need to calculate the Total Dynamic Head (TDH) of your pool in order for us to confirm which pump will meet your needs.

I am looking to replace my 1 Hp 1.65 SF Whisperflo pump with a variable speed pump. I currently have no automation but looking to add some level of it in the future. What would be a good pump to replace this?
Reply
The Pureline Prime PL2605 would be a good replacement option. It matches the total horsepower of what you currently have and if you decide to add an automation system later then you can just add part number 2517501-001.

I need to replace a 2HP Whisperflo 71316S pump for pool/spa. Runs at 3450 RPM through 2" pipe. Will this VS pump do the job?
Reply
Hi, Gary. This Titan Pump is not a suitable replacement because of the higher performance of the Whisperflo pump. However, if you can provide the Total Dynamic Head (TDH) of your pool we can confirm if this will be able to meet your pool needs.

Hi, I have a single speed pump 1.5HP with motor number USQ1152. The pump itself is unknown but is at shown in the photo. I am considering replacing it with a variable speed pump. What do you recommend? Thank you.
i am wanting to replace my old centurion single speed pump with a variable speed. it's 2 HP with 2 inch connections. it looks like the Titan would be my best route. my pool is salt water and about 40,000 gallons with the hot tub spilling into the pool. are there any complications i should be aware of? i'm hoping this will reduce my ridiculous summer electric bills.

Hi, Denise. Please provide the make and model of your existing pump, not the motor so that we can confirm if this will be sufficient.

Hi I have a Hayward Ecostar Variable SP3400VSP 2.0 HP 1.35 SF 2.17 THP where I woke up this morning and there is a drive error and the pump has stalled and cannot be restarted. Can you guide me towards what would be a good pump for replacement that is not going to fail within the first couple years of use?

Hi Carolyn, Our suggestion for a really solid and stable pump would be the PureLine Prime 2.7 HP Variable Speed Pump PL2606 I really like the PL2606 as it has a super reliable motor made by Century who makes the highest quality motors in the pool industry.

Hi, I also have the Hayward SP3400VSP. 230V. Pool has DE filter and attached SPA, old Pentair Mini MAX 400 heater. Would this unit be adequate, or should I go with the 2.7 HP? Pool is 20-25K gal. with 2 water features (waterfall from spa and on side of pool), 4 floor jets, 1 skimmer. Need something quick - Hayward has Drive Error

I currently have a Hayward super pumpII 2 HP. Will this pump be a good replacement? And, will it filter at all the speeds for a 30000 gal pool? Thank you

Yes, this would be a great replacement pump for your Hayward Super II on a pool of 30,000 gallons and would filter your pool adequately at the various speeds.

Wanted to know if this is a good replacement I currently have a AO Smith 1081 pool pump 2 horsepower with a 25000 gallon pool wanted to see what your thoughts were and what you recommend
Hi. The Leslie's Hydromax II you have can outperform this Titan pump comparing it side by side. In order to confirm if this Titan will meet your pool needs, you will need to provide us with the Total Dynamic Head (TDH) of your pool.

I have a pentair challenger 1 HP single speed pump. It works well, but want to replace it with a variable speed. Not sure which way I want to go.
Hi James, the PureLine PureLine Titan 2 H.P Variable Speed Pool Pump would be a great replacement for the Pentair Challenger 1 HP single speed pump. The plumbing ports on the PureLine are not in the exact same spot as your current pump so you will have a little re-plumbing if you go that route, but nothing major. By upgrading to variable speed you will save a ton on your operational costs.

We have a Sta-Rite Model PHK2RA6E. It's a 1HP, single speed. Our utility bills are high and we just bought a new AC and had all new duct work installed so we know it's not that. Our pool pump is rusted and loud. I want to replace it with a variable speed because I have read that they are more energy efficient that what we have. Could the rust indicate that it's bad? Do you think this system will be more energy efficient than my current system?
Hi Kim, The rust does not indicate the motor is bad but the loud operation is a sign that the bearings are beginning to fail. You will see a huge operational cost savings by upgrading to a Variable Speed Pump as much as 80% operational cost savings. The plumbing ports on the PureLine are not in the exact same spot as your current pump so you will have a little re-plumbing

looks interesting. Recommendations?
Hi, Tom. With a TDH of 40, this Titan VSP Pump can be used as a replacement.

Tom, The performance and the motor of the pump are different. The Prime Pump also has a longer warranty.

I am looking to replace a Jandy HHP single speed 2.0HP with a SF1.2 with a variable speed pump to lessen my electric bill. I would also like it to intergrade with the Jandy Aqualink RS automation system. It is not a salt system. Would this be a good replacement? If not can you recommend other options.
This pump, unfortunately, would not communicate with your system however you can replace the motor with an ECM27CU then add the automation adapter part number 2517501-001 so it can communicate with your system.
