What's the best way to clean the cell?

Mix one quart of muriatic acid with one gallon of tap water in a plastic five (5) gallon bucket. Always add acid to the water, never add water to the acid. Always wear eye protection and use rubber gloves. Always work in a well-ventilated areaPlace the cell vertically in the bucket with the cap end down, as shown in right side illustration. Carefully pour the acid solution (as described above) into the cell until the blades are just covered. Allow the acid solution to bubble, and to clean the blades. The acid should only be contained in the cell and not around it. A foaming action will begin, which is caused by scale being dissolved from the plates. If rigorous foaming action does not begin, the cell does not need to be cleaned.

Does this need different wiring or is it plug and pay? Can I just plug this in to where my IC 40 plugs in.

Can you control this unit from a Pentair automation system? Or is it all done from front panel?
Reply
No you cannot control this from the Pentair automation system, the controlling and programming would be done directly through the onboard digital controller mounted on top of the salt cell.

I'm looking to buy a salt system-I have a 33k gal pool. If I get the 40k but want to up grade to 60k cell is that doable? Is the control box universal? If a get the Pureline can i put different salt cell (Goldline, Pentair etc) or are the cells and control boxes specific to manufacture brands?

Hi, Yes if get the 40k and want to upgrade to 60k cell down the road than you can. The control box is not universal so you will need to get the specific cell for the control box. Please note this listing is just for the replacement salt cell, please check out this link for the Complete Salt Systems Also few other items of note the Salt Cells for the Crystal Pure Max and Pentair Intellichlor are interchangeable. The salt cell from a Hayward Aquarite can be used the Standard Crystal Pure and we also carry a Crystal Pure Salt Cell that will work on a Hayward AquaRite.

top of the line pentair automation system (ic40, intellitouch, variable speed pump, etc)IC40 has died again(2x in 4 years). manual says needs a separate timer but it also has a flow switch. system is already setup to use intellitouch control everything. Can’t I just plugin and let the flow switch shut off cell when pump is turned off? If not why? If so can that cause any long-term damage to the salt cell by triggering that flow switch every time the pump shuts on or off? Why recommend a timer?

Hi Buzz, Yes you should be able to plugin and let the flow switch shut off cell when pump is turned off and that should not cause any long-term damage to the salt cell. How many days out of the year are you running the salt system and at what %? How many gallons is your pool?
