Does this use the same type of salt cell as the other crystal pure systems?

No this uses as a different salt cell, here you may view the Crytal Pure Max 60,000 Gallon Replacement Salt Cell

What is the difference between this and the PL7704?
 Reply

A  Answered on 4/9/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi John, the main difference is that the Crystal Pure Max PL7772 uses an in-line salt meter to test and report your salt levels where the PL7704 uses temperature variations to estimate salt levels. Because of the salt meter on the PL7772, you get much more accurate salt readings then the PL7704. Inaccurate salt readings can lead to the system incorrectly shutting down because the system thinks your salt level is too high or too low when in actuality it is not.

I have purchased this unit, but I am confused on the wiring. It states in the instructions "PL71 can be used in 115v/230v, and convert the automatically". Does this mean no wiring configurations need to be changed depending on whether you are wiring to 230 or 115?

Hi JR, You will change the voltage on the system by changing the internal jumpers. The jumpers come pre-set for 230V operation and if you want to use your system on 115V then you will need to change the jumpers as shown here Jumper Location on Crystal Pure Max for 115V & 230V Operation. We are sorry that this is not clear in the installation manual and we are in the process of updating the manual after you have brought this to our attention. Thank you!

Please disregard the last comment as this power supply does not use jumpers for changing the voltage. The power supply will automatically detect if 115V or 230V is being applied and adjust accordingly so there is nothing you need to do on your end.

I did not see the cell installation orientation in the instruction manual. Does the direction of water flow mater to the PL7772 cell and flow switch?

Hi, Craig. The cell flow orientation does matter, the water will flow into the end where the switch is to the opposite end.

does this require a timer. my pool currently runs on a jandy pool system.

Hi Elliot, This system does not require a timer as the cell has an onboard controller and timer. If you do already have a timer that is not a problem.

what does the Green generate light mean when it is steady vs blinking. The manual does not go over this.
 Reply

A  Answered on 6/4/2019 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Jr, The blinking generate led light means the system is generating chlorine. When the generate light turns on green and stays solid is when it connected to power but not generating chlorine, only when the light is blinking indicates that the machine is generating chlorine.

Installed the Pureline PL7772 per directions. Balanced chemicals. Got green lights for Generate, Salt, Cell and Flow. After about 30 seconds, the "Generate" light blinks about 3 times per second. If I adjust the percentage, the "Generate" light stays steady for about 30 seconds, then begins to flash again. Is this ok? Is something wrong? Thanks.

Hi Tim, The blinking generate led light means the system is generating chlorine. So you should be all good =)
