CHARLES scire - I'd reinstall the motor. The vents are intended to cool the motor and to drain any moisture that might collect around the inside of the motor. With the vents up, they let water in with nowhere for it to drain out.Reply

What happens if the pump is installedd with vent cover at rear of pump facing the top of pump . motor installed upside down, operation normal.Reply

remove impeller - The impeller should twist off the shaft with a counter- clockwise rotation. You will have to secure the motor shaft first. See our guide on "How To Replace A Pool Pump Impeller" for more information. Note: some impellers also have a set screw that has to be removed before you can twist the impeller off.Reply
