Product Description

PureLine Prime Pump

Features

  • Variable Speed Pumps are intended to run on the lowest speed to maintain a sanitary environment, which, in turn, minimizes energy consumption.
  • Patented air-cooled heat sink allows pump to run dry without damage to shaft seal. UNCONDITIONAL ONE-YEAR WARRANTY AGAINST SEAL FAlLURE
  • Exclusive dual Ring-Lok™ design gives "tool free" access to strainer basket and pump internals.
  • 208 cu. in. (3411 cm3) heavy-duty strainer basket with exclusive priming tube for superior priming capabilities.
  • Exclusive flap prevents debris in the pump strainer, skimmer basket and filter from flowing back into the pool. The flap also prevents residual hot water in the heater from flowing into filter and causing damage to grids, valves, gaskets, etc.
  • Internal ribs in large strainer basket assure flow, even when filled with leaves and debris.
  • One-piece case eliminates bolts and gaskets and provides for quiet operation.
  • Flexible connections - 2" (51 mm) FNPT or 2" (51 mm) unions (included).
  • Floating eye seal between closed impeller and diffuser maximizes efficiency.
  • Maximum water temperature 104 °F (40 °C).

I have a 22,000 gallon pool with a Magnum Force 1 UMF-S /A.O. Smith 1.0 HP (1.25 SF) X56J. I have to run the pump 15 hours a day for the salt water chlorinator to keep up with the chlorine demand which is expensive. Would like to upgrade to a Jacuzzi variable speed but see that a 1.65 HP is the lowest HP available. Would the additional HP partially be defeating an attempt to save energy? Do I have to buy the pump/motor together or will the 1.65 HP couple to my existing pump?

Hi Steve, If would defeat the purpose if you get this pump and run it at the max RPMs. What you can do is run the pump at a speed that would activate the system to generate chlorine which is somewhere around 32 gpm depending the system you have. Doing that you can cut operational cost. If your pump housing is still okay, you can replace just the motor with the ECM16CU VS Motor and get the Jacuzzi Magnum Tune Up Kit.

I currently have Jacuzzi Magnum pumps installed. I wish to change to a variable speed motor on the main circulation pump. In Southern California SDG&E has a rebate program and the Jacuzzi # 94026117 pump assembly is listed as approved for a rebate. Can you tell me if just replacing the motor with Jacuzzi # ECM16CU will still qualify for their rebate?

Hi Mike, Unfortunately, to qualify for the rebate you will need to purchase the entire pump not just the motor.

Neil, Your problem is that you filter 2-3hrs a day. On a variable speed motor it will trickle down in the time span you have it set for. when that happens it goes from pumping around 70 gallons per minute at 1.65hp all the way down to around 5 that is why your skimmer and cleaner aren't working. You would need to increase time and settings.

I have a jacuuzi Magnum plus 1.5 hp pump, and was wondering if the motor could be changed to a variable speed or would it be better to change the whole pump out.

Hi. You can either replace the entire pump or convert it to a variable speed. I will need to know the motor PART, MOD or CAT # to locate your options.
