Adaptable to any application up to 230 volts and 160 gallons per minute, you simply program IntelliFlo's speed to suit the application. IntelliFlo then dials in the perfect power factor.
Reduce energy cost by as much as 90%!
IntelliFlo constantly monitors water flow and electrical current, making sure that the filtration system is operating at peak efficiency. And that means energy savings never before possible - up to 90% over conventional pumps.
How is this possible?
Well, that's still our secret. But inside every IntelliFlo is an "intelligence" constantly monitoring water flow and electrical current, and making sure that the filtration system is operating at peak efficiency. This intelligence is always on the lookout, protecting against loss of prime or impedance of flow, under and over voltage situations, and thermal overload or freezing.
Simple to program and operate.
Now you no longer need pump curves and hydraulic calculations to determine the right pump for the job. Just program for your desired water turnover, and IntelliFlo does the rest.
Now there's truly one pump for every application. IntelliFlo!

IntelliFlo is also packed with the features that have made Pentair Pool Products pumps the choice for millions of installations around the world.

What are the main differences between the 011013 4X160 Intelliflo and the 011012 IntelliFlo pump?
Reply
The 011012 IntelliFlo pump has 16 speeds and has a computer controller on the top of the motor. This controller will allow you to completely program and control the pump directly from this controller mounted on the motor. The 011013 is a 4 speed pump and does not have a controller on the pump motor so you would need an outside controller to turn the pump on and off and switch between the speeds where the 011012 does not require the seperate controller. The 011012 can also be controlled through the Pentair IntelliTouch system. You may view the intelliflo pumps here

How does this pump connect to a salt-water system? From what I understand, the pump timer must also turn on power to the salt cell. Does the Pentair pump have an output for this without having to use their separate controller system?
Reply
The pump and salt chlorine generator operate completely independently from each other. So you would program the pump directly from the controller mounted on the pump motor, by doing this you can program the time of day you would like for the pump to come on as well as many other settings. The salt chlorine generator also has a controller on its power supply where you can program the output of chlorine. The Salt Chlorine generator has a flow switch which will only allow it to operate when the pump is turned on and sending water through the cell. So when the pump turns on, the water which is being sent through the salt cell will activate the flow switch which will tell the Salt Chlorine generator to start generating chlorine.

We get a lot of voltage variations (high sometimes but mostly brownouts). What is the safe operating range on this pump and will it automatically shut off in a low or high voltage situation?
Reply
The pump operates at 230V single phase. At roughly 210V the pump will automatically shut off.

(5 out of 5 stars) energy savings cleaner pool
Reviewed By: pools by ben from san diego, ca ()
Pros: energy savings and cleaner pool
Cons: sometimes turns off by itself
I have personally installed hundreds of these pumps in southern California and they are excellent. Every install saves $55 - $105 a month. We program for 22 hours at 20gpm and 2 hours at about 60gpm. The slow speed makes the water crystal clear. When you vacuum or run spa jets it can do up to 125gpm. That is about 2 horsepower. Your pool service company should be able to give you an exact electrical savings for your situation. Pump is almost silent. You have to stand next to it and listen carefully when it is in the 22 hour slow speed. Awesome!

(5 out of 5 stars) Excellent Pump- BUT
Reviewed By: Terry S. from Livermore, CA ()
Pros: Energy efficient
Cons: Flimsy cover over controls. Computer Drive replacement part costs same as entire pump
Awesome pump- BUT, the computer brain that runs the pump costs as much to replace as the pump itself.
