Model # JMPURPLE032
(SALT SOLUTION) is the stain preventative of choice, and a must product for salt (chlorine) generator pools. Unlike traditional sequestering agents, The Purple Stuff works extremely well in high salt and high TDS pools. The Purple Stuff keeps silica in solution while greatly reducing the incidence of cell fouling (scaling) in salt (chlorine) generators. Dosage: Initial: 1 quart per 10,000 gallons Maintenance: 6-8 ounces per 10,000 gallons weekly

Can the Purple Stuff run through a pool heater or must the treated water be diverted from the heater?
Thanks,

If your heater cannot be bypassed we suggest putting the pool on The Blue, Purple, or Magenta Stuff only at an initial dose of one quart per 10,000 (one quart per 15,000 for Magenta Stuff) gallons, and if using the Sequest Test Kit, testing it once a week to keep the Blue or Purple Stuff at 20ppm.

Tried in the in-house rust and scale remover, but it had no affect, so I decided to give this a try. Instructions say one quart can treat 10k gallons, and I bought 2 for a 28k gallon pool, so I did not get the necessary amount. For what I used, it did manage to lighten the stains a good bit, so I'm sure if I used the proper amount, it would of done a better job. It's more expensive than other products, but looks like a very good product for managing the iron in your water.
