Q:What is the difference between Inline and Offline Chlorinators?
A: There are two chlorinators that are made for your swimming pool the inline and offline chlorinator. The difference between these two chlorinators is the way they are plumbed into your swimming pool line. The offline chlorinator is ideal for retrofitting existing pool systems. The inline chlorinator is for permanent installation into the return line of new or existing systems. Here is how each system is to be plumbed into your system.

Tablet Pool Chlorinator
Both the Hayward and the Rainbow Pool Chlorinator are a good buy. They both operate using either the 1” or 3” Chlorine Tablets. The pool chlorinator controls the amount of chlorine that is put into the swimming pool. They run automatically with your pump and filter systems.

Q:How do I fill my Pool or Spa Chlorinator?
A: There are several Pool and Spa Chlorinators on the market, but they all work and behave very similar. Here are the basics of filling your Pool Chlorinator. We are assuming that your pool has a proper conditioned and residual of 1.0 to 1.5 ppm. If you need strips to check your ppm please see our Swimming Pool Test Strips

  1. Remove the chlorinator cap and fill with proper size tablets.
For Pools: 1" or 3" dia. tablets
For Spas: 1" dia. tablets in optional Spa Chamber.
  2. Check your Chlorinator Oring. Making sure it is properly lubricated and in place you can tighten the chlorinator cap back on.
  3. Turn on pool or spa pump for a minimum of 6 to 8 hours.
  4. Adjust control valve according to your pool/spa size. Use a Swimming Pool Test Strips to figure out proper chlorinator control valve setting.

Q:What factors cause the Chlorinator to use tablets at a rapid pace?
A: Some of the factors that will cause your Chlorinator to use the chlorine or bromine tablets at an increased rate are sunlight, water temperature, and bather load. Summer time usually causes an increase in tablet use do to an increase in all three of these factors. Winter time often causes less use on your pool or spa chlorinator.
