We have a Hayward Super II Pump Model# K45N2N104 S/N 8B05, 2hp, 1.55KW, 230 volts, RPM 3450 56J Frame. Can I purchase a ECM27CU for this? It doesn't look like a fit for the round flange. I know it should be the right motor, but I just want to be sure before I purchase it. Can I return it if for some reason it doesn't fit?

Brad, This 2.7 HP Variable Speed Motor Round Flange P/N ECM27CU can replace your current motor. We also recomend getting a Tune Up Kit which consist of the replacement shaft seal, housing gasket, diffuser gasket and housing lid o-ring.

Will this fit a Hayward Northstar pump? Do you have a vs motor that would fit a Hayward Northstar?
Reply
No, unfortunately, there are no variable speed motors that we know of that will fit the Hayward Northstar pump. There is a dual-speed motor that will bolt up with that Northstar pump.

Replaced on a Hayward Super Pump which only runs 6 sheer descent waterfalls. The main pool has a super pump ii which motor still runs good. When I took apart 3 hp motor i noticed the company I used to remodel my pool had left 2 hp impeller, plate and diffuser. I changed to 2.5 impeller, diffuser and plate to take advantage to 2.7 hp. What a difference! Big improvement and quite. Glad i made the upgrade.

(5 out of 5 stars) Great upgrade!

Pros: Quiet, easy to install, energy efficient
Cons: More $ initially
Person I spoke to at INYO was incredibly helpful and knowledgable. Our Haywood pump died, and rather than simply replace it with another low-efficiency pump, we ended up getting this variable-speed pump motor instead. It was "plug and play" with the existing hardware, and was up and running quickly. It is a dramatically better and more efficient pump motor than the basic Haywood, and will likely pay for itself in energy savings in a season or 2.

(5 out of 5 stars) Good choice

After some weeks of use I can’t be more happy with the equipment performance. I ordered overnight shipment but I received my pump 2 days ago after due to holidays - understandable - the package was received in perfect condition and I proceeded to aately then the Istallation was extremely easy. No much information was provided for an enthusiastic homeowner but was not a problem for me. I connect the power to a switch and salt system in 30 minutes. Program set up easy too.

Louder than I thought it would be but I can handle it. The variable speed is nice but I’m concerned at the lower speeds it won’t pull enough water but haven’t put it through a summer yet. I Bought it 6 months ago and the LCD display is no longer working. I’m requesting warranty service, hopefully they are ready to deal with.

(3 out of 5 stars) Was Not Able to Just Replace the Faulty Motor
Reviewed By: Inyo Customer ()
The design concept of the variable speed pump is very good. The electronic controller is also good. However, the motor itself is of a very poor manufacturing quality. I bought one pump in 2015 and had to replace the entire motor and controller system recently because the permanent magnet on the motor is poorly manufactured. The rotor magnets are glued with a poor quality epoxy. The magnets were chipped and separated from the rotor then became lodged inside the stator. It was a pity, I was not able to just replace the faulty motor. INYOPOOL needs to address the quality issue.

(3 out of 5 stars) It's Ok
Reviewed By: Inyo Customer ()
Didn't have this pump a full year and the LCD display went bad. Then I find out that you have to completely pull the motor off the pump and provide a picture of the face of the pump before they will do anything with the warranty. And that even if the motor is fine but the display is bad. The savings I'm getting from this pump is ok but it's not as much as a lot of the online videos boast. I haven't seen anything more than a 15% saving on my electric bill. Not happy about having to pull the motor to take a picture. Then put it back together to wait to see what they do with the warranty. You also have to buy another pump seal if the motor is replaced.

(5 out of 5 stars) Perfect replacement for B129 AO Smith motor with Hayward Super II pump.
Reviewed By: Inyo Customer ()
Perfect fit to replace a worn out AO Smith B129 motor (Screaming bearings) with a Hayward Super II pump. Easy to change, powered right up. Love the variable speeds and how quiet the motor is when running at lower RPMs. This is my first experience with a variable speed motor so had to take time to understand all the options and features. Called Inyo Pools to confirm going with 2.7 HP over 1.65 ECM16CU since B129 is 1.5 HP but is actually 1.95 HP with 1.3 service factor.
