What is Service Factor?
Reply
Service Factor(SF) is a multiplier that when multiplied by the horsepower of the motor indicates the total permissible horsepower loading that may be carried when the motor is operating at rated voltage and frequency. The most important thing to remember when replacing a motor is that the replacement motor's horsepower times its service factor must be equal to or greater than the original motor's horsepower times its service factor. The Service Factor rating can be found on the motor label. See Step 4 of our How to Read a Pool Motor Label guide.

Why do I need to purchase a new shaft seal?
Reply
We strongly recommend replacing the shaft seal. The purpose of a shaft seal is to prevent water from running down the shaft of the motor and into the motor housing. Water will damage the bearings and cause the motor to fail. A new shaft seal should be installed whenever a motor is replaced. The motor manufacturer can deny the warranty if the motor fails to due to water damage from a faulty shaft seal. To find your shaft seal you will need to visit our Pool Pump Parts Page or the Spa Pump Parts Page and select your make and model.

Why should I purchase a Tune Up Kit?
Reply
A Tune Up Kit includes all of the essential replacement seals and gaskets for the pump. The seals and gaskets should be replaced when installing a new motor on your pump. New seals will prevent the pump from leaking water or losing the prime. A Tune Up Kit will protect your motor and ensure that the pump is working efficiently.

My pump makes a loud high pitched screaming noise when running. The pump moves the water well but the noise is very loud. Would replacing the seals eliminate my noise problem?

I ordered replacement motor from INYO Pools. I reviewed and followed the motor replacement videos which were most helpful. The new motor was a smaller diameter than the original. But a spacer was supplied and when installed provided the correct adjustment for the frame and provided a secure fit.The pump replacement seal kit ordered with the motor ensured a leak proof installation. All work was completed within a few hours. Pump has been running for two weeks now without any problems or leaks.

(4 out of 5 stars) Installed to magnum force pump
Reviewed By: Inyo Customer ()
This fit my magnum force pump perfectly. Installing pump parts to motor and wiring it was fairly straightforward. My old motor was working fine on a 15 amp circuit but this motor seems to draw more current. I switched it to a 20 amp circuit and it is working fine. Just opened the pool so we'll see whether there is any impact to my electric bill later.

Reviewed By: Henry W. from St. Louis, MO ()
Pros: Reasonably quiet. works as advertised
Cons: A bit finicky on final stages of installation
Worked well enough and is an excellent priced option to replace old Magnum plus pumps. Be sure to replace impeller seals since you will have this broken down. All the other parts from my housing fit - diffuser, impeller and seal housing. It was a bit of a challenge to get the smaller cylinder of this motor to seat well into that screw connection on the Magnum housing - patience required. Saved my very old pump housing for a few more years.

(5 out of 5 stars) Excellent Pump Moter Replacement
Reviewed By: PoJo from Clarence, NY ()
Pros: Awesome fit - excellent replacement
Cons: none
Tip to get the impeller off the old pump moter: use a 7/16" open ended wrench - it slides in near the capacitor on the electrical side... rotate the impeller until the wrench slides into place at the end of the shaft and then one person holds the motor and the wrench while a 2nd person loosens the impeller off with bare hands by turning the impeller counter clock-wise.
