I just bought a house with a pool. i'v never had a pool so my question is when the pump comes on automaticaly (it has a timer)what position is the jandy valve supposed to be turned to the main drain or skimmer?

You can turn the valve so that all the suction is going to the drain at the bottom of the pool, this will suck any dirt or debris on the bottom of the pool through the drain and clean through the filter. If you turn the valve so the suction is going to the skimmer then you will be pulling any leaves or debris off the surface of the pool. You can also set the valve in a half way position so you are pulling from both the skimmer and main drain. I hope this helps.

Why do the Jandy valves list ID and OD for each valve?
 Reply

A  Answered on 1/23/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Each Jandy valve is designed to connect to two different size pipes. For example on a valve shown with ID 1 1/2" and OD 2", a 1 1/2" pipe can be glued inside the port or a 2" pipe can be glued on the outside of the port.

Can I replace the seal inside the gray valve or would I need to replace the entire thing?
 Reply

The 1154 Jandy Gray 3 Way Valve does not have replacement parts so you would need to replace the entire valve. You might want to consider the same size Jandy Neverlube Valve which does have replacement parts available.

I have this valve installed at my pump. I have a lot of air coming out of the pool jets and it doesn't stop. If I rotate the valve to vacuum and back to skimmer, it clears the air immediately. Do you have any suggestions?

I would recommend checking the gaskets/o-rings on the valve and pump housing. They may be letting air into the system.

Hi Roy, There is a Jandy 2/3 Port Valve O-ring Kit. You can find other parts via the Jandy Standard & Never Lube Valve Parts.

20 year old Jandy valve was leaking through the gate

Needed to replace pump and motor assembly, Jandy valve was just in front of this assembly so I removed it at the same time.
Cut pump assembly away from piping with Sawzall.
Then cut PVC piping coming from vacuum line and skimmer line.
Installed 2 1-1/2" couplings on each line.
Glued valve to couplings then completed pump installation.
