How does the dual speed feature of this pump work?

Some dual speed pumps have a toggle switch in the back of the motor to change speeds manually, but many do not. Generally you would need to tie this dual speed pump into one of our dual speed pump timers/controllers. One of the more popular models is the Digital PE153 series. This timer has 3 functions: one to turn the pump on and off, a second auxiliary to switch from high speed to low speed, and then a third for any other piece of pool equipment. I just finished replacing the shaft seal on my booster pump. As soon as I turned the pump on water was leaking from the shaft seal. Is it defective or am I doing something wrong?

Depending on the model, the installation of a booster pump shaft seal can be slightly different than a pool pump shaft seal. Some booster pump and pool pump shaft seals require that a silicone sealant be used on the outer areas of the metal seat of the shaft seal. The seal will need to be lightly hammered into the body of the pump. You can use a 1 inch PVC coupling or a piece of 1 1/4 inch PVC pipe and a rubber mallet. This procedure will apply to any pool pump or booster pump using a >PS-1000 style shaft seal.

Can this pump be set up to accept 230 volts or is it wired for 115 volt only? Does it have a switch on the back to control the speeds?

This pump can only run on 115 volt. It does come with a switch on the back to control the high and low speeds.

I have a 18x36' poll with 3' shallow going to 8' deep end. We only can use 115 volts. Will this pomp work for our pool or what would you suggest?

Very quiet, and the perfect size for our pool system. Also, best price I could find on the net. Shipping box was damaged, with some exterior damage to the unit, but replacement was fast and simple. Customer Service was excellent in helping us choose the right pump and filter for our pool.
