How many hours per day should I run my pump?
 Reply

A  Answered on 10/8/2013 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

There are many factors to consider; bather load, gallons of water, pump horsepower, type and size of filter just to name a few. A good guideline is 8-10 hours a day. On the cooler days and early and late season, you can cut the run time down to 4-6 hours because there is usually less swimmers and cooler water requires less chemicals. In peak season, when it is the hottest, raising the run time to 10-12 hours per day will help to keep the pool clean and circulating during it’s time of heaviest use.

What is the difference between this variable speed and the Intelliflo VF please? Thx.
 Reply

A  Answered on 7/11/2015 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

The main difference is on the high speed capabilities of the pump, the Intelliflo can ramp all the way up to 3 HP where the SuperFlo can go up to 1-1/2 HP. For most pools the 3 HP is overkill and you really never need to go above 1-1/2 HP. If you have a standard pool 25,000 gallons or less and no crazy water features then the SuperFlo would be fine.

Hi Wayne, The Pentair IntelliFlo Variable Speed (011018) would be your best option.

Unionized fittings (1.5" internal slip and 2" external slip) come with the pump.

The pump included with my above ground pool was under powered and had no way to do scheduling.

I replaced all through wall fittings with hayward 1.5 inch return fitting. I then replaced all soft plumbing included with the pool with 1.5 inch and 2 inch PVC plumbing. I paired this pump with the pentair 75 soft clean and clear and has been running great. The scheduling is amazing!!!

Old pump was loud

Written on 7/14/2022 by Guest

My old pump was the CTX1500 (Australian made) 1 hp single speed pump. The first motor on the old pump only lasted 3 years. The second motor was making loud noises after only one year. After doing my homework, I knew I wanted an American made pump that is variable speed. I wanted the variable speed in order to reduce noise and save energy. My research led me to the Pentair or Hayward. I wanted a pump that has spare parts readily available for order. Because of excellent reviews regarding quietness for the Pentair, I chose them. I did product searches on the internet and found Inyopools to have the best price.
I ordered the pump with the UPS ground shipping option, and the pump came in just a very few days. I'm glad it did because the motor on the old pump completely failed the day before I received the new one. Installation was very simple, and I only had to make minor piping changes to accommodate the new pump. Wiring is very simple, and it doesn't matter if you have 110v or 220v...the pump will handle either.
I can't get over how quiet the new Pentair pump is. Absolutely amazing!! Programming a schedule on the Pentair was quite easy and straightforward. Now I hope to see an energy savings of about $40/month. I am ecstatic with this purchase! Thanks Inyopools!

Pool pump was losing power and motor was getting very noisy

Written on 6/6/2022 by Guest

We bought a house with an inground pool three years ago. The pool is filtered by a pressurized cartridge filter powered by a 1HP Hayward Super pump of indeterminate age (the model and serial number tag was unreadable). After about 2 1/2 years the pump flow noticeably diminished and the motor started becoming noisier. After ignoring the problem for a couple of months I found that there was a crack in the pump filter basket, so I pulled the motor off and found that the impeller was about 75% clogged with small debris. After cleaning the impeller flow was significantly increased but the motor was still quite noisy so I decided it was time for a new pump. Ordered a new Pentair variable speed pump from INYO . It took about a week to arrive and then it was a matter of cutting the PVC intake and return lines, disconnecting the wiring, removing the old pump and then reconnecting the piping and wiring to the new pump. I used the default programming so starting up the pump took less than 10 minutes.
