As a pool owner for 15 years, I thought it was time to upgrade my older Pentair Single Speed Pump to a more energy efficient Pentair 2 Speed Pump. After a lot of research, I finally pulled the trigger and hoped getting a Pentair (upgrade) would be an easier retro-fir from a DIY perspective.
1. Electrical wiring to existing DIG-220 SWG Pump Controller panel was probably the hardest part for this amateur. I had to run another wire (Low Speed) through my electrical whip conduit.
2. Wiring inside the Pentair pump is very tight, and you really need to take care everything is secured and properly terminated before putting the cover plate back on.
3. Once I verified the High Speed and Low-Speed pump settings were working, it was time to move onto the plumbing part of the job.
4. One thing I quickly noticed was this Pentair model is roughly 2-3" shorter in height than my previous Pentair pump, so I had to account for my incoming manifolds and my piping to the filters. Once adjusted the work was quick. Note, I really love the 2 Pack Pool Pump Union Kit For Superflo Pump 350157 that is provided with the Pump. It makes quick hookup of the Pump so much faster than before.
5. Finally energized the unit, primed the pump and started it up for the first time of the pool season. Super quiet, airtight, so far I love the investment.

(4 out of 5 stars) 1HP replaced old 1.5HP
Reviewed By: Green pool from Grapevine, TX ()
Pros: Save energy with dual speed. Replaced old 1.5HP pump
Cons: Not as quite on full speed as I expected
Replaced my old UltrFlow 1.5HP pump.Pentair included the unions that with some other manufacturers you have to pay extra. Also came with a switch for dual speed, unexpected extra, thought I would have to pay extra for this. Dual speed allows us to run at low speed most of time, saving money, and you can hardly hear it at low speed. Then when we need the waterfall or pool cleaner we can raise it up to full speed.

(5 out of 5 stars) Pentiar Upgrade to 2 Speed Pump
Reviewed By: Inyo Customer ()
I've had a Single Speed Pentair pump for almost 15 years now and was hesitant to upgrade to a newer 2 Speed pump. After much research, I finally decided to focus on a 2 Speed Pentair pump, since it had a similar footprint and I was happy with the Pentair quality from past experience. I will say I came across INYOPools.com via a Google search and could not be happier with the communication, quality, price and delivery time. In fact my order came with "extras" (manual switch, couplings) that could have easily added another $100 onto the bill. Highly recommend the pump and the website.

Replaced my old single speed with this pump after some good technical advice from the phone support line. Super helpful and patient. Install was easy and pump is just what I wanted -- more efficient and less noise. Best price I could find and free shipping.

(5 out of 5 stars) nice replacement pool pump
Reviewed By: Charles S. from Valatie, NY ()
Pros: heavy duty pump housing
Cons: electical terminals are flimsy
the pump is very nice abd durable. I replaced my constant speed pump with this two speed pump. already seeing lower electric bills. only problem is that the electrical connections are flimsy and there is not much room to install wires. Need to have 1/4" spade connectors that dont come with the pump to connect wire whip. Overall, very nice and I am well satisfied.
