The CLEAN & CLEAR Cartridge Filter features a thermoplastic chemical resistant tank with no-tool servicing and a coreless cartridge for easier cleaning. All models are equipped with easy spin-on unions for plumbing hook-ups. These filters are NSF listed for commercial applications and are available in 50, 75, 100, 150, and 200 square foot sizes.

Are there specs on how many microns this filter is rated at? Is there available another filter that won't allow finer particles to pass through?

As a rule, sand filters sift particles ranging from 20 to 40 microns in size. Cartridge filters can sift particles as small as 10 to 20 microns in size. DE filters can sift contaminants as small as 1 to 3 microns in size. This makes DE filtration at least five to six times more efficient than sand filtration systems.

How do i size a filter?
My pool and spa are small. I'm thinking no more than about 9k gallons

Hi Ed, When sizing a filter you want to make sure that the filter can handle the output of water from the pump. This is measured in Gallons Per Minute (GPM), normally a pool pump is sized to turn your pool over in 8 Hrs. and if your pump was sized properly then this 75 Sq. Ft. (75 GPM) filter should be fine for your pool. With a pool filter, it is always better to go bigger so if you wanted to go up to a 100 Sq. Ft. Filter then you would have a longer time between cleaning your cartridge and you put less stress on your pump.

Would this filter be a good replacement for a hayward DE filter model ec65?
My pool is inground and 18k gallons with a hayward super pump 3/4hp.
What's the approximate cleaning interval for a filter of this size with my pool?

Hi, Chris. I would recommend a larger capacity cartridge filter like the Clean and Clear Cartridge Filter 150 Sq. Ft. - 160317.

Hack saw, PVC glue, tape measure
I replaced all soft hoses with PVC utilizing 1.5 inch and 2 inch pipes with 45 degrees and sweep elbows to reduce restriction. I paired this filter with the pentair Superflo VST and made for a fairly easy install for someone with plumbing experience.

This filter has been amazing so far. I placed it on a 22 foot above ground pool to replace the garbage that came with it. It seams to do a great job handling the fine blow sand we have here in South West AZ.
