What is a booster pump, and where does it attach to?

This cleaner is designated as a pressure side cleaner which means:Pressure Pool Cleaners most pressure cleaners require a booster pump which is typically a ¾ horse power pump that is dedicated for use with the cleaner alone. The booster pump allows you to operate the pressure cleaner without taking any suction away from your main pool pump. The addition of the booster pump does mean pressure cleaners require a more involved installation than either suction or robotic cleaners. The booster pump is installed in tandem with your pool pump.

1)Is this comparable to the Jandy Ray Vac which loved but needs replacing. Gunite pool is 16 X 30 feet. Would the Jandy hose line attachment work with the Polaris 165 hose line attachment to the pool?

Hi GB, Yes it is unfortunate that the Rayvac was discontinued it was a good cleaner. The Polaris 165 would be the closest cleaner to the RayVac cleaner. The 165 does have a different wall fitting, you may view the Polaris 165 Wall Fitting here. I believe you should be able to unscrew the wall fitting from the Rayvac and then replace with the 165 fitting.

Is this ok to use in a gunite pool? I don't have vinyl or fiberglass. My pool is 15x30. My RayVac hose fell apart and cost $900 to replace.

Yes that will work fine in a gunite pool.
