MAX-E-PRO PUMPS By Sta-Rite
SUPERIOR HYDRAULIC DESIGN MOVES MORE WATER, RESULTING IN LOWER ELECTRICAL COSTS
This new high efficiency, low maintenance pump is designed for maximum performance for the modern pool. Advanced state-of-the-art hydraulics means that Max-E-Pro delivers more water resulting in lower electrical costs. It will keep your pool crystal clear as well as run your automatic cleaner and any other hydraulic accessories around your pool. Not only is this pump energy efficient, it is ultra quiet. Special dampening in and around the pump’s base makes Max-E-Pro one of the quietest pumps in its class.
The extra large 6” trap collects more debris, allowing you to clean the trap less often. Our clear see-thru lid allows you to check for debris without removing the lid. The new Quick-Lock trap cover ring makes loosening or tightening the trap a cinch. Max-E-Pro is self-priming and produces enough suction to lift water 5-feet above pool level. Large 2” ports include external and internal threads to adapt to a variety of pipe sizes.
The Max-E-Pro is built to last, constructed of Sta-Rite’s glass reinforced resin that is corrosion-proof and can withstand many years of U.V. sunlight. This season, invest in the energy efficient, low-maintenance pump that really moves the water – Max-E-Pro by Sta-Rite. 110/230V UL Listed and NSF. Backed by a 1-Year Warranty.

How does the dual speed feature of this pump work?
Reply
Some dual speed pumps have a toggle switch in the back of the motor to change speeds manually, but many do not. Generally you would need to tie this dual speed pump into one of our dual speed pump timers/controllers. One of the more popular models is the Digital PE153 series. This timer has 3 functions: one to turn the pump on and off, a second auxiliary to switch from high speed to low speed, and then a thirdĀ for any other piece of pool equipment. You may view these controllers through the following link: Intermatic Timers

Does this pump require a separate controller/timer? If so, what control would you recommend?

Hello Bill - If you do not already have a 2-speed control/timer, this pump will require one. We would recommend one of the Intermatic PE153 controls.

My original question was a 2 parter "Does this pump require a separate controller/timer? If so do you have any that are all in one?". Your answer hit part 1 - this pump does not and would need a separate purchase (recommended) but missed part two "do you have any that are all in one?

What is the manufacture date on this pump? Didn't want one that has been on the shelve
for a while with dried up seals. Thanks for your time.

(5 out of 5 stars) Excellent Pool Pump

Pros: 2 speeds
Cons: none
Installation was straight-forward, and the unit operated perfectly. I really appreciate the power (and money) savings that come from the low-speed capability: It moves about half the water on about 1/4 the power consumed, therefore I expect to cut my energy costs roughly in half! It would be more convenient if the pump came with a built-in speed switch; I devised one using parts from a hardware store: plastic waterproof box that attached to the 1/2" NPT fitting on the motor body and a "2-way" toggle switch with waterproof cover.
