How often does a Predator clean and clear 150 cartridge last before it has to be replaced??

Hello John - There is not a set time period for a cartridge to last. Our guide titled "How To Determine When a Filter Cartridge Needs to be Replaced" is very helpful.

Are the 150 predator and 200 predator interchangeable? Can I use a 200 in place of the 150. Big price difference.
Reply
Yes you can use the 150 ft.² replacement cartridge in place of the 200 ft.² replacement cartridge. The dimensions are all the same size the only difference is the number of plates within the cartridge.
Reply
The outside dimension is shown as 18 inches. The description shows 10 inches. Which is correct?
Reply
The outside diameter of this element should be approximately 10 inches for the clean and clear 150 sq. ft. cartridge.

I had to take out center filter holder in sections because the filter would not go over the end of the holder. I put the holder back together and put in the Pentair 150 filter. It fit perfectly and I was able to remove it for cleaning a month later. Always buy the best correct filter.

This was our first time. It went ok. Like a tip on how to get the middle section of the filter in easier, that was the hardest part. The fit was very tight. We are cleaning our own pool now and it looks better than ever.

The cartridge stopped halfway down. Forcing didn't help so I removed it. It also got stuck as I lifted it out. I gave it a final "jerk" upwards which removed the upper housing. I slide the cartridge on the lower housing then slid the upper housing on the lower til I heard the click. The specs appear to be the same but I could not see where the cartridge was getting stuck.

I have never owned a pool before I have never cared for a pool before so I had no clue what I was doing in chanting out this filter cartridge. But it was very simple to just slide the cartridge off and then slide the new one right back on and it was up and working phenomenally with in minutes

1. Vacuumed pool and and skimmed out bugs and other floating debris.
2. Cleaned filter and repeated shock treatment and added stabilizer.
3. Changed and cleaned filters repeated with no success in clearing water and obtaining appropriate
chlorine levels.
4. Decided to buy two new filters. After 24 hours of continuous filtering, pool water was crystal clear, and
chlorine level was stable.
5. This process may seem evident, but my filters were adequate the season prior. The new filters made a world
of difference.

(5 out of 5 stars) Pool Filter Replacement
Reviewed By: Papa D from Venice, Florida ()
Pros: Quality and performance and price
Cons: Slow delivery after ordering
Purchased a new home in Florida with a pool. The pool had been maintained but never used. I noted that the pump pressure and water flow was not as good as it should be so I proceeded to clean the existing filter. That certainly helped. I decided to purchase a new filter so that I could rotate them every couple of months as I did with my previous Jacuzzi tub. My previous pool was salt and had a sand filter, so this cartridge system was new to me. I looked at several on line sources and brand name filters. The prices shocked me. I am brand loyal. By chance I trusted INYO Pools generic recommendation as a substitute and at 1/3 the price of the brand, gave it a try. WOW, when it came in I noted that the quality and construction far exceeded the installed brand name filter. After a month or so I noted that the pool pressures were in the red again, so I pulled the plug on the old (6 month old) brand name filter and put in the Predator replacement cartridge. I could not believe the water flow difference. My pool system was actually up to the pressure flow that it should have been and within a day the water was crystal clear and the water flow was actually putting a visible ripple and current in my water. I had never had water flow this great before in the pool. Pleased, you bet. Got to trust these folks and their recommendations. I do so much that I ordered another filter so that I could do my normal monthly rotation and clean process that has never failed me. I ordered their filter cleaning gear too. From now on, whatever I need for my pool, I will call INYO.

Purchased for my Pentair Clean & Clear 150. It worked well… HOWEVER: After I purchased this, I learned that the Clean & Clear 200 sq. ft. Filter ALSO fits my Pentair 150 cartridge system. Therefore: moving forward I now always purchase the 200sq. ft. filter, as I have. 1.5hp motor and it does a superior(much quicker) job cleaning my pool AND has a noticeably longer replacement interval, thus making it more economical over the long-run. My only gripe is that the previous 200sq. ft. filter would NOT fit around my center core, but aside from that one-time issue, I have been extremely pleased with all of INYO’s products. And their how-to videos are clutch.
