Hi I changed all gaskets and new bulbs RW40 300w bulbs in two lights. One of the lights gets about 1.5 inch of water inside no matter how many times I change the silicone gasket. Glass is not broken and not dents on the edge of housing where gasket sits. Where is this water getting into the light from? the electrical cord? Also both lights look very dim? is the water causing an issue inside the housing that dims the light?

Ray, The only other thing that could be the issue id the Unitension Wire Assy. (79111000), is that not securing the fixture properly it can let water into the fixture.

Replaced 20 year old Amerilite-easier to use a wire snake

Written on 5/13/2020 by Guest

I found that using a wire snake much easier than pulling both old and new wires through the conduit. You may use some diaelectric grease sparingly on the new wire to assist in pulling through the conduit.

1. Turn off circuit breaker for the light
2. Remove old light from niche
3. Disconnect light wiring at junction box
4. Pull out old light wiring from pool side (much easier than pulling from junction
box)
5. Insert wire snake in conduit at junction box until it comes through the niche.
Snake enough extra through the niche to attach new wire
6. Attach new wire securely to the snake (bend all three wires back to form a link
with the snake)
7. Securely wrap electrical tape trying to keep the same diameter as the new wire
8. Pull snake firm and steady through the junction box conduit
9. Cut and strip new wire leads leaving enough room to freely connect in the junction
box
10. Connect new wiring, turn on breaker and test light
12. Wrap excess light wiring around light and put back in niche
13. Use only the brass screw to secure light to niche
14. Test light again

You are done.

If you are like me, I made sure the light worked before installing it.

Hope this helps.
