Hello Patty.  The Zodiac Pool Pulse is a device that measures the suction strength at the pool cleaner hose end.  Suction side automatic pool cleaners are powered by the suction line connected either to a dedicated vacuum port or through the pool skimmer.  Each suction side cleaner has an optimum suction range that translates to the cleaner's function.  Consult the Installation/Owners manual of your cleaner for details.  It is a measuring device only and is not left connected once the suction adjustment has been completed.
