Hi Carol, This Locking Tab fits into locking tab holder that is located on the Filter Body, click link >Body to view.

How is the locking tab installed. Mine broke. Also, do you really need the locking tab.

Hi Joe, This Locking Tab fits into locking tab holder that is located on the Filter Body. It is needed to securely lock the lid in place.

Pros: Easy to install; makes releasing lock nut very easy

Cons: Will deteriorate with the constant sun exposure

The tab locking piece was very easy to install and makes opening our filter lid much easier. Our other one broke off which made it harder to release the lock nut on our filter unit.
