Hi Larry, The Baptistry Thermostat Only (OTS) can be used on the 6HHL unit.

On thermostat 9523-11 does it matter which side of the unit the power connects to? does it have to connect to the red wire or either side is okay?

At this time we do not have the wiring diagram for this unit. You would need to contact the manufacturer.
