I need parts for my filter valve. When I look at the filter parts breakdown, it gives me different choices. How do I know which one is the one I need?

In order to locate the correct parts we will need to know the model number of the filter valve. Two identical filters can have two different valves. Typically the valve model will be located on the label of the valve. If there is no model number on the valve, you can try to see if there are any part numbers on the valve itself. Problem, While running filter,water is being discharged out as if it is on backwash. Is there a easy way to find out what part of my model 3m-20-3 is broken with out buying a whole unit?

The most common part which would cause this leaking would be your SM-20 Spider Gasket I would suggest Replacing Your Spider Gasket.

What does Wg mean?
Do you need to grease internal spider and o-ring gasket as part of installation process prior to use?

We couldn't find anything in the Pentair catalog that referenced WG. We believe it meant "with sight-glass". No lubrication needs to be done when installing the complete valve. The spider gasket never needs to be lubricated but you can occasionally lubricate the cover o-ring.
