My backwash valve (model SM-20-2 and assembly model SM2-PP2) liking from waist lane. I was told to install a new gasket (diffuser gskt f/2" fns)-I did -still liking. Did I install gasket wrong way or I install a wrong gasket? Please help. Thank you

Good Day Eduard. Given the model of the valve and the number for the gasket, those are a correct match. As for putting it in wrong, that is indeed a possibility.  This is a link to How to Replace a Spider Gasket on a Multiport Valve from our site. Please take a look, perhaps something was missed.

Ordered a diverted valve gasket (had to buy whole assembly) for what Ithought was a Hayward filter. Turns out it has a Praher Valve Assembly. Received the wrong part. Only need to replace gasket. You show a 2" and a 1 1/2" 5 port gasket. What are the measurements, the pipe or the size of the gasket?

Hi Barbra, The 2in 5-Spoke Diverter Gasket measurements are - outside diameter is 6.75" and inside diameter (center hole) is 0.64". If you can reply with the with the manufacture and model of the valve you have we can get you the correct replacement gasket.

why do I see several gaskets with part number 271148 but various outer dimensions (7", 6.5', 6.75")? I have a pentair valve model sm-20-2, valve assy SM2-PP2. Which is the right valve?

Hi Joe, We have the dimensions listed on the Product Dimension image. The SM2-PP2 will replace the SM20-2 for DE filters.

Leaking out the backwash hose

Removed valve cover. Used a chisel and screw driver to remove and clean all remnants of old gasket. Added waterproof silicone adhesive and installed new spider gasket. Allowed two hours to cure adhesive and fired up the pump. All good!

Multiport valve wouldn't close quite right.

Written on 9/20/2021 by Guest

After backwashing my sand filter, I noticed I still had water going out my waste drain. I could wiggle the multiport valve handle a little bit and it seemed to sit correctly, but I didn't want a complicated process just to get it to function properly. I took apart the multiport head and the gasket had rolled over and out of alignment. A new gasket is no big deal, so I ordered several of these to have spares on hand after installing a new one. I love that these gaskets and nice and square edged, I looked at several other that were more rounded but that is what caused the problem in the first place. Nothing lasts forever, but with some magic lube this one seems like it will go longer than most.

Backwash leaking

Written on 6/27/2020 by Guest

Our Jacuzzi sand filter is about 15 years old. The backwash (waste) was leaking so we checked the spider gasket (star gasket).

Check gasket in the key assembly on top of the pool sand filter:

*power off
*release air tight seal(I opened the pump skimmer basket to release air pressure.)
*unscrew key assembly
*spider gasket is set inside, it seals the key assembly to the filter.
*the worn gasket was so old it looked like tar. It did not come out in one piece. It took an hour of scraping the channel with a screw driver and pliers to clean the channel to seat a new gasket.
*our local pool supply gave us a standard gasket and it was too small.
*we ordered from INYOpools because they displayed the actual measurements, so we knew we had the right part.
*no local *professionals* were willing to replace the gasket (too much labor cleaning the channel and more profit ordering a new complete sand filter).
*so for $13, our pool is up and running perfectly with a simple spider gasket
