What is the difference between an inline and offline chlorinator?
Reply
An inline chlorinator would be plumbed directly inline with the plumbing. For an existing pool, this would mean a section of pipe would need to be cut out to install the chlorinator. An offline chlorinator attaches to existing plumbing by chlorinator tubing (holes would be drilled into existing pipe to attach the tubing.)

I recently bought this chlorinator. Instructions say to install it above level of pool. Will be easiest to install approx. 3 ft above average pool water level. Is 3 ft too high?
Thanks.

Hello Jim - 3' would not be too high for the chlorinator. Make sure you put a check valve between the chlorinator and the heater or pump. You wouldn't want the concentrated chlorine to run back into that equipment.

Thank you. I had not thought of the backflow potential.

Can I use 1" bromine tabs with the Clear glass version of this feeder?

Hi, James. Yes, you can use bromine tabs with these chlorinators. Once, you've used bromine, chlorine tabs cannot be used.

I live in Texas and had to rebuild all of the valves and some PVC due to the freeze, added this new unit while rebuilding the PVC and valves. It was very easy to cut in as it comes with inline unions that makes it extremely easy to install. All I had to do is cut a long horizontal PVC pipe leaving enough room to glue in the unions, then install the chlorinator.
