What is the difference between an inline and offline chlorinator?
Reply
An inline chlorinator would be plumbed directly inline with the plumbing. For an existing pool, this would mean a section of pipe would need to be cut out to install the chlorinator. An offline chlorinator attaches to existing plumbing by chlorinator tubing (holes would be drilled into existing pipe to attach the tubing.)

I recently bought this chlorinator. Instructions say to install it above level of pool. Will be easiest to install approx. 3 ft above average pool water level. Is 3 ft too high?
Thanks.

Hello Jim - 3' would not be too high for the chlorinator. Make sure you put a check valve between the chlorinator and the heater or pump. You wouldn't want the concentrated chlorine to run back into that equipment.

Thank you. I had not thought of the backflow potential.

Can I use 1" bromine tabs with the Clear glass version of this feeder?

Hi, James. Yes, you can use bromine tabs with these chlorinators. Once, you've used bromine, chlorine tabs cannot be used.

How well does this deal with a variable speed pump, that is turned down to a slower speed for most of the day?

Hello Stan, this chlorinator can work with as little as 20 gallons per minute which would be a considerably low RPM setting on a variable speed motor/pump.

What if you ran your variable speed pump at a higher speed then 50 GPM? Would that be fine to do? Thank you

The GPM rating of this Pool Chlorinator is between 20 - 50 GPM. Running your pump at a higher rate than 50GPM could damage this chlorinator.
