Saltron RetroRetro is a DIY salt chlorine system for aboveground pools and small inground pools. Retro is inserted into the pool itself and is different from Reliant because it is not plumbed into the existing pipe. This self-contained purification system utilizes a natural process to generate pure chlorine. The electrolytic process uses a very low concentration of salt (less than a teaspoon per gallon) and generates free chlorine. The chlorine continuously kills bacteria and algae and then reverts back to salt. This indefinite cycle leaves the water feeling silky, soft, refreshing and sparkling clear. Saltron is easy to install, economic, and fully automatic.
The Aquatron is only $ 249.99 when others are much higher. Why is this unit so inexpensive?
In addition to these salt/chlorine converters, what else would I need to get started? i.e. salt, testing equipment etc?

Thank you for contacting INYO pools. The Aquatron system is a stand alone system and is designed to be replaced every few years. There is no plumbing involved. The control system is still effective but not as technical as the in line system. You would need additional salt when ordering this system. I like to keep my salt level around 3500 PPM (Parts per million). You will not need any additional equipment as each systems control box will display the salt level and will let you know if the salt is to low and the cell is not producing chlorine. It also will control how much chlorine the system will be producing.

Once you have the Saltron Retro Saltwater Chlorinator installed, you'll have to balance you water chemistry and get salinity level to 3000ppm.
