I have a Hayward Super pump with a Century centurion motor Part # 10-164303-23 for my In ground pool. The motor runs hot and the pump was very loud and has stopped pumping water. Is the PureLine Prime Pool Pump 1 Hp a compatible direct replacement for my pump / motor combo? The current motor is 230 /115 Volt and SF 7 Amp motor. The pureline prime lists to be a 6 amp motor; will this be a problem for swap out?

Hi Ken, Yes the 1 HP PureLine Prime is a direct replacement for the 1 HP Hayward Super Pump you listed. The motor on the PureLine Prime can be wired either 115V or 230V and when wired 230V it draws 6 amps. This would not be a problem if your current motor draws 7 amps, it will just mean that the new pump will be costing you less to operate as it uses less energy.

Is there a power cord?

Hello Laurie, Unfortunately this motor does not come with a power cord. It will need to be hard wired to use as a 230v connection or you will need to purchase a 3-prong cord to use as a 115v connection.

I have a 1.5 hp pump at this time, me pool is in ground gunite approx. 30,000 gal. The Current plumbing is 1.5 inches. I see this pump has a higher head and water flow then what I have now. Do you think this pump will work with my size plumbing and pool ? I wish I could give more info on the old pump but everything on it is unreadable.

Hi Bob, If you have had a 1.5 HP pump on your pool with 1.5" plumbing then you would be fine with this pump as it has the same flow rating as the majority of 1.5 HP pumps on the market.

I have a Hayward Super Pump 3/4 hp with 1.5" water lines and ports. If I change to the PureLine 1 hp with 2" ports will that be a problem?
 Reply

A  Answered on 5/26/2016 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Don, If you are going from 1.5" pipe up to 2" ports that will not be a problem. The issue comes into play when you go from 2" plumbing down to 1.5" ports. You should also be fine with going from a 3/4 HP up to a 1 HP as in most cases the flow differences are not that significant. If you like you could email us the size of your pool along with the make and model of your filter so we can double check, but you should be just fine with the 1 HP.

Can you recommend a power cord to run a 115v connection? It seems to be set up for spade style connections. Thanks

Gretchen, How long of a cord? We have a 3 foot cord here: http://www.inyopools.com/Products/07501352015032.htm

Jandy pump was not working.

Written on 6/9/2020 by Guest

The pipe dimensions were not the same but putting new Inyo pump on a paver block did the trick. The piping then matched up and the electrical connection was as easy to connect. The only pipe I had to shorten was the output pipe since now it was sitting a little higher.

Case on old Hayward Super Pump had split.

Written on 10/13/2019 by Guest

Ordered pump from Inyo based on photos I had sent to them.

Old pump had no unions installed so had to cut PVC pipe to remove pump.

New pump was also equipped with 2" openings and mine were 1 1/2" so needed to upgrade my pipe to 2".

New pump came with 2-2" unions as part of the order so this made it easy to install all 2' pipe.

Cut out pump with Sawzall.

Picked up fittings from local Home Depot and proceeded to cut and glue all fittings into pump space.

Everything fit with no extra cutting.

Had replaced pump motor previously so I knew how to wire the motor, motor came prewired for 220 volts and that is what I use so quick and easier switch out for me.
Started pump up and no leaks! running smooth and quieter.

My former pump stopped working

Written on 10/8/2018 by Guest

Turned off the electricity.
Cut the PCV pipes.
Took off the old pump.
Planned the best position for the new pump, which was a little bit biggeer that the former so I needed to make sure to have space in between the filter and the pump and also the pipes surrounding it.
Connected the main pipes to the filter and to the main pipes first and then connected the pipes that were coming off the filter as I had to cult them too to allow for more space.
Then, connected the electricity cables to the new pump.

Older Leslies super pump was getting loud ( bearing) and the impeller casing was leaking causing much unwanted air in the giltration dyste

Written on 6/7/2018 by Guest

Disconnected power.
Moved power from old pump to new. (Wires match up) Unscrewed fittings to filter and suction lines(s) reused existing pool plumbing and connected to new prime pump. Included adapters 2-1.5” were spot on. EZ swap out as all
heights of the pump are the same.
Primed new pump, switched on, checked for leaks. Now a super quiet sealed filtration system is running st 100% 👍🏻

Old pump died a rusty death

Written on 3/31/2018 by Guest

I was replacing the pump, pump motor and filter unit all at the same time.
I took lots of pictures of the existing setup for reference before I started.
I used a saws-all to cut the pipe from the pool into the pump and the pipe from the filter back to the pool to remove the old unit.
I had purchased all of the PVC connections and couplings from the local big box store along with 8' of new pipe.
I purchased more of each piece then I planned to use, in case I screwed something up. I returned the extras when I was done. This saved me a trip in the middle of my installation!
I cleaned the ends of the pipes where I had just cut them off.
I then positioned all of the new equipment where the old equipment was located and quickly realized I needed to make some changes. I was using quick disconnect unions at all of my connections, the old system did not. They take up a little more room so the new filter would be slightly further away from the pump than the original.
I installed all four of the quick connect union pieces to the pump and filter.
I glued a quick connect to the pipe from the pool and connected it to the inlet of the pump to get the exact position of the pump set. I then measured and cut the pipe I would need to connect the pump to the filter and dry fit it all together. (Note, when dry fitting ensure that all connections are completely inserted in the couplings. After dry fitting it didn't line up. I cut my pipe down a bit to make it fit. I should have trusted my measurements. When I glued it up and the parts were fully inserted, I was short. This is where the extra pieces came came in handy.)
I continued to measure, cut, fit and glue all of the pieces until I was connected back to the return pipe to the pool.
I then wired up the pump with the existing wiring from the old system. (After inspecting and insuring is was the correct wiring for the new system.)
I let the glue cure for the next 18 hours.
The next day I primed the pump and fired it up.
The new system has been running for a week now and my pool looks amazing.
I replaced the old pump with the PureLine Prime Pool pump because the inlet and outlet positions were an exact match to the old pump. This made connecting it up to the existing pipe a breeze.
All in all it was pretty straight forward install that anybody with basic DIY skills could handle.

Needed to replace Hayward Super pump

Written on 4/30/2017 by Guest

1. Shut off the power for the pump at the breaker/ fuse panel and ensure power is off.
2. Remove wire access on old pump and remove the wires from the pump noting whether the pump is wired for 120 or 240 volts.
3. The fittings on my old pump were glued to the pump casing, I had to cut the PVC pipe as close to the pump as I could. (If your existing pump has unions on it you can skip to step 6, this will also save you time.)
4. After cleaning up the PVC pipe dry fit the pump to the existing plumbing.
5. Glue the unions to the PVC pipe, and thread the unions onto the pump casing.
6. After the PVC glue has cured (about 2 hrs) connect the pump to the pool's plumbing. Ensure the fittings are properly lined up and the couplings are tight.
7. Using the instructions provided with he pump connect the wiring to the new motor.
8. Turn power back on at the breaker/ Fuse panel
9. Prime the pump with water, and secure the lid.
10. Turn on the pump and check for leaks.
