What is the difference between the Aqua Logic and Pro Logic?
Reply
The main difference between the Pro Logic and Aqua Logic is that the Pro Logic can accommodate Hayward/Goldline's new Sense and Dispense module. The Sense and Dispense module will sense how much chlorine and pH is in your pool and dispense the proper amount of chlorine or pH back into your pool. You will require a Stenner liquid acid pump & tank or CO2 tank for the pH portion of sense & dispense. The chlorine portion of Sense & Dispense will be taken care of by the Salt Chlorine generator. The Pro Logic also has enhanced user interface over the Aqua Logic and is an overall upgraded system.

What is the ColorLogic Network Module designed for?
Reply
The ColorLogic network module is designed to be used with the new ColorLogic 4.0 lights and the ProLogic System. When used together the ColorLogic lights will display 101 color tones, 16 themed shows, while controlling light brightness, speed and movement. The 4.0 ColorLogic Lights can be seen here http://www.inyopools.com/lights_colorlogic.aspx. The ProLogic Systems & ColorLogic Modules can be seen here http://www.inyopools.com/sanitizers_pro_logic.aspx.

Do i just need the light and my current prologic controller which runs my pool filter and spa etc.. or do i have to have a separate controller for the colorlogic led pool light?
Reply
You can use just the ProLogic to control the ColorLogic light but you will only be using a fraction of the overall control capabilities. To get the complete control capabilities you would need to order the ColorLogic Gen. 4.0 light here http://www.inyopools.com/lights_colorlogic.aspx along with the ColorLogic Communication Module here http://www.inyopools.com/Products/02200000040136.htmWhen using the ColorLogic Communication Module with the ProLogic the ColorLogic lights will display 101 color tones, 16 themed shows, while controlling light brightness, speed and movement.

Can I install the Pro Logic myself?
Reply
The Pro Logic is a large, multifunction, high voltage control system. For safety reasons, it is very important that the Pro Logic be installed per NEC(National Electric Code) and local electrical codes. In addition, the Pro Logic must be configured (programmed) to control the particular equipment on your pool. Hayward highly recommends that the Pro Logic be installed by a licensed professional.

Will the Pro Logic control 2-speed filter pumps?
Reply
All Pro Logic models can be configured to control 2-speed filter pumps. Unlike other pool automation controls, no special relays are required. However, the 2-speed filter pump will require the use of 2 of the Pro Logic's high voltage relays. The installation manual contains complete instructions for configuring 2-speed pump operation and it is very important the instructions be followed in order to prevent damage to either the pump or control. Separate high speed and low speed time periods can be programmed and also the you can manually control the pump with a single button: Push once to turn the pump on in high speed mode, push again to switch to low speed (the pump must run a minimum of 3 minutes at high speed in order to properly prime), and finally push the button again to turn the filter pump off.

Does the Pro Logic provide freeze protection?
Reply
The Pro Logic can turn various outputs on when freezing temperatures are detected. This function is fully programmable including which outputs will turn on and also the temperature threshold. This freeze protection is normally adequate for areas that experience infrequent freezing conditions with temperatures that don't dip to far below 32ºF (0ºC). For all other systems, the pools should be shut down per normal procedures for the winter.

Does the Hayward P4 control unit come with any sort of remote or would I have to purchase a wireless remote base and a wireless wall mount remote separate.
Reply
Hi Jerry - The PLP4 does not come with the remote control and base as this is an upgraded option. This page here shows the available Remote's for the ProLogic PLP4.

I have a pool spa combination with one pump and one heater the only separation is based on the position of the Jandy valves for supply and return. Would I be okay with the P4 or would I be required to move up to the PS 4, and if the P4 is suitable for my setup would I be able to select a SPA mode to move the Jandy valve actuators and adjust the heater to a 100 degree set point verses the standard pool mode set to 78 degrees?
Reply
Hello Mike - According to Hayward, you would require the PLPS4. The PLP4 would not be able to differentiate between the pool and spa.

What type of 2 way valves will i need to install on my pool pump to have them controlled by the P4 and forget about any manual procedure?
Do i have to buy a valve and an actuator separatelly?

Hello, You would need to by the actuators valve separately the part number is (GVA24) The Part number for the Jandy Neverlube for 2" pipe is (4716) and for 1 1/2" (4724).

I hired a pool company to replace my old style Goldline display module and the salt generator. The display module tells me that the configuration menu is locked. Is there a manual available to tell me how to unlock the configuration menu? Right now, I'm not getting any reading on the salt generator through the display. Thank you

Hi Steve, On page 20 of the PL-P-4 Installation Manual will tell you how to "unlock" the configuration menu.

I have an inground 20X40 pool. It is a hassel to maintain it. Would u recommend pro logic and are there additional costs to it to make it completly functional. Can I install it my self or professional help is required?
Reply
Hello this is a great entry level automation system. There are additional items that can be added such as AQL2BASERF and AQL2-SS-RF which will be a wireless system in order to control the pool from the pool or inside the pool. This will require an electrician to install in order to tie in relays and breakers

i have all original system since 2008 my pool is 11000 gallons the pool company over size every thing which is good for me but now i am reading on my menu very low salt 1600 pool store tells me i at 2700 could this be the Hayward T-15 CELL going bad ? and can i just plug in a new one and every thing goes bake to normal after 48 hours.

Hello, David. In your particular situation, it does seem that it is time to replace the cell. The average life of a Salt Cell is based upon 10,000 hours of operation. You may review the "How To Guides" for How To Know When a Salt Cell is Bad - General at link http://www.inyopools.com/HowToPage/how-to-know-when-a-salt-cell-is-bad.aspx or click here. I also suggest referring to our "How To Guides" for How To Replace an AquaRite Turbo Cell for complete details. What should labor cost be to install the Pro Logic PS4 Contoller? In AZ

Hi Mike, Unfortunately, we're unable to tell you how much it will cost to have this system installed in AZ because we do not refer or have any affiliation with any service companies.

Hello, I currently have an Aquarite Salt System and want to replace for more automation. Is the Pro Logic the way to go or should I look in to something different? What would I also need to use the app on my phone? Is it only wireless or can I hard wire network to the ProLogic?
Thanks
Reply
Along with the Pro Logic you would need the wireless remote base, part number AQL2BASERF, and the connect home network, part number AQCOHOMENET. Those two items will allow you to control everything that is hooked up to the Pro Logic system from your phone.

I have a pro logic and need to know what percentage I should set it at for the summer months. BALL PARK... is all I'm asking. I use a pool service and it seems they are always add tabs. Thanks
Reply
Hi Steve, I would take out the tabs and set the salt system at 50% and then test the water over a week or two. You will want your chlorine to be consistently at 3 Parts Per Million. If you are too high then you can dial it down and if you are too low then you can dial it up. Normally it takes a few weeks of adjusting the output and testing the chlorine to get dialed into the right spot.

Can I use this control board with this heat / cool pump Raypak Classic Series Heat Pump 137,000 BTU (Heat/Cool) - 016037...?
Will I need anything in addition to - to make this work ... Need answers before I purchase...?
Reply
Michael, RayPak units are not designed to work with mainline automation systems. The Classic Series Heat Pump 137,000 BTU (Heat/Cool) - 016037 would not be compatible with the ProLogic Base System Control for P-4 - PL-P-4.
