Dear Sir/Madam,
I have a V-Green 165 motor that has freeze protection that comes on at 39 deg. I would like to adjust this setting to better fit our environment. Can this V-Green User Interface be used for this purpose. My user manual says it should work. Please confirm. Moreover, are there other options for adjusting the freeze temperature setting?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Sincerely,
Hogni

Hi Hogni, The V-Green 270 User Interface (2520652-001) will allow you to configure freeze protection temperature. The User Interface does includes the instructions to configure the additional features it provides.

I have a century V green 165 pump. I want to add a clock function. I understand that I need to add a V 270 interface. How difficult is it to hook up the V green 270? What is involved to adding this unit?
Reply
Hi Joe, You will need this interface. It's considered a DIY item so it's not hard to install, it will come with installation instruction.

I can't seem to find an on-line user/installation manual for this product. Would you please provide a link to a manual that describes it's detailed capabilities and installation instruction? Thanks

Please refer to the V-Green Variable Speed User Manual, view page 29 of the manual, Remote Mounting User Interface. You may click here to view or click on the link file:///C:/Users/inyopools/Downloads/V-Green_User_Manual.pdf

I don't see a picture for this unit. I have an ECM16SQU. How does this fit or attach to it? I can't seem to find this unit separate from the ECM270 motor. Please advise.
Thanks!

Hi Geo, This interface screws onto the 165 motor controller.

I have a Pentair SuperFlo 342000 -- which appears to be just a rebranded VGreen 165. Is there any reason to believe that this 270 User Interface would not work on that pump?

if you use this along the Raypak Variable Speed Pool Pump 1.65 THP, will you be able to control a pool heater independently like the 2.78 THP model does? (pump always on programmed to run at higher speed when it activate the heater)
Reply
Hi Wilfried, Adding this interface to the Raypak VS Pump - PS165VSP will not allow you to control a pool heater independently.

Will this motor fit a Hayward super II dual speed model SP3015X202AZ & will the interface controller vfd work with Hayward pro logic software version 4.04?
Reply
The v-green is the variable speed motor which is what the interface is for. If you are wanting to go to variable speed I recommend ECM27CU and the 2517501-001 which is the automation adapter kit that connects to the aqualogic.

How is the V270 installed and how does it connect to the V165? If I install the V165, can I add the V270 later easily without taking the newly installed motor apart? A
Reply
Hi. The V-Green 270 User Interface can be installed on the V165 motor at a later date. It mounts to the motor with 4 screw and a cable connecting the interface to the V165 controller.

Ok now I finally have my answer I have been searching but this review answers my long lost problem thanks

Hello,
Does this item give me the same display as the v-green 270 pump motor? Can I set the days of the week?
Reply
Hi, John C. Yes, it does. You cannot set the days of the week, only a daily operating schedule.

Hello,
Concerning the freeze point protection, when set temperature is reached, how long does it run once the set temperature is detected?
Reply
Freeze Protection can be either enabled or disabled when the user turns the User Interface selector knob to Setup. If it is enabled, the user will be able to set the temperature at which the pump will turn on. The control is designed to run the pump for 8 hours at 2600 RPM if the temperature drops below the setpoint.

I have a ECM270sq the pump still works but the display is dead..will this replace the deisplay for my pump?

Hi, John. Yes, this 270 User Interface will also work with the V-Green ECM27 Series motors.

My ECM16 seems to not be working. Only one led comes on and there is no power to the motor. Is there a replacement control unit I can get without purchasing the entire motor assy?
Reply
Hi, Russell. Unfortunately, there is not. The entire motor will need to be replaced.

Will this interface work to also control a salt water chlorinator control unit that is set up to come on with the pump? Right now I have a mechanical/electrical time clock but would like to have a bit more control on the pump. Will this work to turn both on and off?
Reply
Hi, Steve. This 270 User Interface will not control a chlorine generator. The Chlorine generator will need its own timer.

The manual states this interface cannot be motor mounted and is designed for remote/ wall mounting contrary to previous answers. Can you confirm this. Also, I was hoping this interface would add ability to control an auxiliary load like the V270 can but manual says no. Can you also confirm this and is this the only interface kit available for the 165?...thanks, Vic.
Reply
Hello Vic, There is no place to mount the interface on the motor, so it must go on the wall. The 165 does not have the relay for external load, so the kit will not add this ability. This is the only interface kit for the 165.

My V-Green 270 interface clock sticks to one time at times. Is there a clock reset or does whole interface need replacing?
Reply
Hi, There is not a clock reset. You can try to reset the controller to the factory default settings. If that does not work, then you will have to replace the V-Green 270 User Interface - 2520652-001.

purchased in PCB FL, everything was working fine after Hayward installed ....My pre-settings to blank-out are working fine, I now have a blank screen after 6 months purchased??? I can no longer change the program even back to default? Difficult time getting Hayward representative on phone?
Reply
If you did not purchase the item with us, our best suggestion for getting this repaired under warranty would be to call AO Smith. They are the manufacturer of the motor and have to process the warranty regardless. AO Smith can be reached by calling 937-667-2431.

Try doing a power cycle on the unit, turn off at the circuit breaker, wait 5 min and then power back on. These act like a PC's sometimes and they need a reboot to turn the screen back on. I have had many customers with this issue! good luck!

My new V-Green 270 pump runs at least 8 hours per day compared to my old single horse pump only running 2 hours per day and doing an efficient job. My electric bill has increased and not not decreased after installing the ENERGY EFFICIENT pump. Why does the pump have to run so long?
Reply
Hi, Rebecca. You can program the pump to run at whatever schedule you feel like. The pump run speed and duration will determine how much money you can save.

Adding to her question how does this v green 165 know what time it is does it have a clock in it to set thanks
Reply
The VS motors must operate longer at set RPM Schedules, the lower the RPM the lower the cost to operate which means the water moves/circulates at a slower speed too. When the water is circulating at lower gallons per minute (GPM) the longer it will take to turn the total gallons over for a full filter cycle. If the motor/pump is a 3450RPM Single speed pump with a 10K gallons pool, you will need the pump to turn over 1,250 gallons in 8 hours to circulate/turn over 10K gallons. If you chose to operate at 1/2 the RPMs set to 1725 it will take 16 hours to turn over the 10K pool in this example.

The V-Green 165 ECM16CU and ECM16SQU motors do not have an integrated timer like the ECM27CU and ECM27SQU offer. The standard single-speed time clock for 208-230 volts can be used for the V-165 motors to wire to for the on/off feature. I prefer to have an external timer with the V-Green 165 motors, even though it is not required. It will allow for you to power on/off when preferred and if in cleaning/service mode it will allow the motor to start at the speed it stopped at vs. returning to the beginning program.

Is there a way to adjust the freeze protection rpm on the V-Green 270 variable speed pump?
Reply
Hi Robert, you can adjust the setpoint temperature of the freeze protection on the V-Green by the front panel but you would have to purchase and install the Century Motor VLink - VL100 if you wanted to also adjust the running speed of the motor during freeze protection mode.
