I recently changed my pool motor and gaskets. I made sure to lubricate all the gaskets with vaseline. A few days later water is leaking from the pump. What did I do wrong? Help please!!
Reply
You never want to use vaseline on any rubber gaskets or o-rings. Vaseline is petroleum based and will deteriorate the rubber quickly. Whenever you change the motor on a pool pump it is recommended that you replace the gaskets and shaft seal as well. A >Go-kit contains the shaft seal, packet of non-petroleum based lubricant and gaskets you will need for your pump. If you already have the gaskets, you can purchase >Magic Lube.

My pump is not priming even after cleaning impeller. Will purchasing this kit aid in fixing that problem?
Reply
The seal kit can help with loss of prime. I can't guarantee that it will solve your problem. The loss of prime could be from an air leak at the valves or plumbing in front of the pump.

I am replacing my Century Pool and Spa motor (Cat B624 and Part 8-173840-23). Is this the right tune up kit to use?
Reply
We would actually need the front plastic pump model to locate the correct tune up kit for you.

Is there something on the Century motor label that would tell me what you need to know to help me? Or do I have to disassemble the current motor to find it?
Reply
Yes, there shoud be a number on the motor, like "Cat" or a number in this sequence xx-xxxxxx-xx.

Hi,
I am looking for a tune up kit like this for a Polaris booster pump B625. If you dont, would you tell me the part #s for the items. Thanks.

Gen, B625 is the motor identification for your Polaris Booster Pump. We would need to know the model of your Polaris Booster Pump to correctly identify the GOKIT you need. Working backwards, the GOKIT71 you asked about works on Polaris PB460 & Polaris PB460Q 3/4 HP Booster Pumps. If you have one of these, GOKIT71 is what you are looking for.

Hi, the Polaris Booster Pump I have has a metal tag on the impeller housing that says "PB-4 Booster Pump". The serial number is M717267 and was purchased in 2001. Which rebuild kit can I use?

Dave- The GOKIT71 Tune Up Kit Polaris Booster Pump would be the right tune up kit for your polaris booster pump.

I have a Century Pool and Spa booster pump Model #7-173840-23, and it also has PB4-60 on side. It is leaking water and I believe a shaft seal kit or tune-up kit will remedy this. Which kit should I get for this type of motor leak?
Reply
Don,Yes, this would be the correct tune up kit for your PB4-60 Polaris booster pump. If you have a leak towards the motor, then you should pay close attention to your shaft seal within the kit. That is the seal that should prevent further leaking and water damage to the motor.

I have a 3/4 hp century pool pump BP4-60.My pump started making a humming noise. It is now so loud that i stopped using it.Would a pump kit help this problem or is the motor bad.
Reply
This is usually a sign that the motor bearings are going bad. This is typically grounds for replacing the motor. Replacing the seals likely will not resolve the issue.

Scott- The shaft seal for your polaris booster pump is the 5250-106 Seal, Pump 1000 (psr 1000).

Will the Part # GOKIT71 seal kit work on a Polaris PB-4 booster pump? It is listed to work with the PB-460 and 460Q, but the casting on my pump only shows PB-4. Is it the same?
Reply
Hello Mike, yes this is the same if you have a Polaris Booster pump this seal kit will work.

I have a PB4-60Q pump. I have found that the shaft seal part for the PB4-60 will not fit the PB4-60Q. Also the O ring is different with a large price difference. How then is it possible that repair kit GOKIT71 is stated to fit both pumps??
Reply
Hi, Bob. GOKIT71 will not work with the Polaris Halcyon Booster Pump - Model PB4-60Q, the seals and o-ring will have to be purchased as individual parts.

Hi
I have an AO smith century booster pump that is leaking and I'm pretty sure it's shaft seal from everything I've seen is this the right tune up kit for this model 7-173840-23. Thanks

Hi. This is the correct Tune Up Kit for unit manufactured prior to 2011 or with serial numbers after PB120111001.

Yes I Have 7-173840-23 pump motor, and going to use this seal kit to replace the seals on the motor and propeller. How do you remove the motor drive shaft from the propeller in order to replace these seals? The motor still work good.

James, the impeller is threaded onto the motor shaft. You will need to hold the motor shaft in place to remove the impeller. Please note the GOKIT71 will only fir the older style Polaris PB460 pump. If you have a different pump model, this kit will not work.

I just want to make sure that I order the right tune-up kit for my polaris pump. To do this I sent a photo of the pump motor tag and a photo of the pump and motor. The tag on the pump itself has worn away. I am hoping that you can identify the pump from the photo to be able to tell me the right kit to get. The pool is salt water.
Thank you,
Sincerely,
Alex
Hello - it appears you have the Polaris Booster Pump (Original Style), the correct gasket kit would be the GOKIT71.

I hate to be redundant but I have a motor part of 0-173840-23 that is a couple of years old and impeller housing serial number PB050217171. THe impeller housing is the new style.
Can you please tell me the correct 0-ring seal kit part number? Photos are attached.
Hi, Don. This kit is NOT compatible with the pump you have. Use the Polaris Booster Pump PB4-60 (2011-Current) Parts Diagram to locate parts for your pump.

I have a Century 1081 Pool Pump Duty Part 0-173840-23 which is the replacement for a PB4-60 Polaris Booster Pump. What is the correct seal kit to use for this pump? Water is leaking from the front of the unit where the impeller is located.
Hi Sheila, This is the correct Tune Up Kit for units manufactured prior to 2011 or with serial numbers after PB120111001 Do you know if your motor is from before 2011? If your motor is from 1994-2011 then this is the correct seal kit for you.

How do I know if I have an older or new style pump? I think I need to rebuild my pump. Will this kit work on my pump?
Could you please tell me the replacement motor for this older one and any other parts I would need?
Hi Scott, the replacement motor for yours is the B625. If you need the seals and gaskets as well, we will need the model number of the front pump wet end housing that the motor attaches to in order to confirm that for you. You can also upload pictures in a reply here if need be.

I have a Polaris PB 4-60, ZPSFLX, # PB042915240. It appears to rattle intermittingly; is that a bearing issue? Which rebuild would be suitable? Thank you.
Reply
Good day, Andy, a rattle inside the motor would be more from a small item, rock, much or critter. The bearings would be a screech or loud grinding sound.
