the colors are not showing up as clearly as they were when new. the light w/color wheel was installed in 1999. Do I need a new bulb or a new color wheel or both?
Reply
I would first start off of with a new lamp assembly, if you did not see an imrovement after that replacement then the next thing I would try is the color wheel.

Hi, I have a fiberstars 6004 on my pool, I need a replacement bulb, do you sell them or know a reputable place I could order one from?
thank you.

Hi Mike, the bulb by itself cannot be changed on the Fiberstars 6004 illuminator. You would require the bulb assembly on this page which we have in stock and could ship out right away.

My 6008 pool light powers on but the bulb on the inside of the unit doesn't light nor does the light in the pool.

Hi Rick, You will have to contact S.R. Smith at 1.800.824.4387 to troubleshoot where the issue is, whether the bulb needs to be replace or another issue could be causing the issue.

Lamp assembly flickers but will not come on

Lamp "Restrike" When turning the system off and then turning it immediately back on, it may take 1 to 3 minutes before the lamp comes back on. This process allows the lamp to cool down and then restart. This is a normal function of the Metal-Halide lamp system that the Fiberstars 6004 / 6004-AS illuminator uses.-THE UNIT SHUTS OFF AFTER A FEW MINUTES THEN COMES BACK ON Check to see if the air vents are blocked. Refer to the above drawing to make sure the vents are clear Turn off the power and remove the two screws securing the cover and check for an obstruction in the cooling fan

I've got three model 6000; pool rep says they need to be replaced. It's about 15-yrs old. Is that about the expected life span? Can it be replaced with a model 6004?
Reply
Hello, 15 years sounds about right for the lifespan of the illuminator. The Fiberstars 6004 illuminator (4 color) is the current version of the 6000 illuminator.

Anyone has the electrical diagram of the Fiberstar 6004 model? No fan noise, no light. Fuse checked good. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Luis,We have the 6004 installation manual on our site. If that doesn't help, you might want to give Fiberstars a call to troubleshoot the unit with them.

Will this fit a 6004FS? What is the difference between a 6004 AS and 6004FS unit?
Reply
Hi Ron, According to SR Smith the 6004"FS" is an indicator for FiberStar which has been acquired SR Smith. The 6004FS is same as the 6004, the 6004AS is the auto-synch model which you can synch more than one unit together.

I have the 6008 model but my lights are real dim what should I do?

Hi, Re-porting the fibers can resolve the dimming of the light. Instructions can be found on page 4 of the 6004 Installation Manual.

no fiber light around pool at all. Fan works, light works. Trying to get more fiber up so I can cut it off & have new fiber ends. Sounds like I have to loosen big conduit nut to free fibers. When I try to loosen nut the whole port assembly turns with it. I can't push it up thru 4ft. of 3/4" conduit. Tried install instructions on pg 4 but that does tell how to replace burnt fiber ends. Thanks, Dan

Hi Dan, You can not replace the burned fibers you will have to cut them off using a hot knife

Hi, Scott. The manufacturer recommends purchasing the entire lamp assembly to prevent this issue. We do not carry just the replacement bulb.

I have a 6004 illuminator with the y20-6000 light assembly. Tried multiple new assemblies and bulbs, still no light. Meter testing, i am getting 268 V AC at the light socket. Believe this should be 120V and I'm frying bulbs as a result when plug in new.
Any feedback you can provide as to why i'm getting 268V AC? Is it necessary to replace the entire 6004 unit, possibly due to a bad transformer?
Reply
Hi, Rob. The 6004 unit requires 120 VAC, if you're getting 268 VAC then you will need to double check the input voltage.

are the 6004 and 6600-as the same if not whats the differance thanks
Reply
Hi Larry. The 6004 and the 6600 unit are the same units. The 6600 & 6600AS were as sold as a two piece kit which included the 6004 and the CCS-600 port kit. The CCS-600 port kit allowed the 6004 unit to port up to 600 strands of fiber. The "AS" model is the Auto Sync unit which is used when you're using multiple units.

Hi, My manual says Lifetime Illuminator 6000 series. Not sure exact model number. Bought about 2003. Light not coming on. 1 fuse missing from our unit - wanted to buy both new to see if that works. Is one a 7 amp and 1 a 1 amp fuse? How do I know which to put where? And if that doesn't work, would I try a new lamp next? Thanks
Reply
Hi, Pam. There should be a wiring diagram on the unit identify where everything goes. Try to locate that diagram or use this 6000 Series Wiring Diagram to determine which fuse is needed.

Several thoughts come to mind. - Bulb could be failing. - The fiber bundle may need a fresh cut - There are several glass filters between the light source and the fiber bundle including the color wheel. Remove, clean, replace.
