Is there a feedback mechanism that tells the unit the chlorine balance in the pool? Is this a way for me to automate addition of clorine to keep it always at the correct level? Or, just another place to put the tab aside from the the drain basket?
Reply
There is a dial on this unit which has a setting from 1-10 If you set the dial on 1 it will be letting the least amount of chlorine to the pool and if you have it set at 10 this would send the most amount of chlorine to the pool. So you can automate the feed of chlorine to the pool but you will still need to manually test your water. We do not recommend placing tablets in the skimmer basket because this high concentration of chlorine goes directly back to your pump and can cause corrosion to your pool equipment. If you do not go with the automatic chlorinator we would recommend at least going with one of our floating chlorinators so you do not damage your equipment you may view our floating chlorinators here http://www.inyopools.com/chlorinators_floating.aspx

Does the in-line chlorinator come with a check valve, or must it be purchased separately?
Reply
No this does not come with the check valve. We would highly reccommend purchasing one of the check valves listed on this page http://www.inyopools.com/valves_flo_check.aspx

How do I know if one chlorinator is enough for my pool?
Reply
The Hayward CL200 or CL220 chlorinator will provide enough chlorine for up to 40,000 gallons of water. You would need to calculate the volume of your pool to determine how many chlorinators you would need. For example, if you have 60,000 gallons then you would use two CL200 or CL220 chlorinators.

What is the difference between an inline and offline chlorinator?
Reply
An inline chlorinator would be plumbed directly inline with the plumbing. For an existing pool, this would mean a section of pipe would need to be cut out to install the chlorinator. An offline chlorinator attaches to existing plumbing by chlorinator tubing (holes would be drilled into existing pipe to attach the tubing.)

Does the CL2002S chlorine feeder come with unions?
Reply
Per the manufacturer, the CL2002S chlorinator comes with socket connectors, not unions. They do not make unions for the 2" model. They advised that you can plumb it using 2" unions but these would attach to the pipe, not the CL2002S itself. They suggested their SP14982S union.

I am thinking of purchasing a chlorinator, I use flex hoses right now. Will I have to change to solid piping?
Reply
You can use flex pvc or hose to plumb in the chlorinator. Keep in mind that both will deteriorate at a faster pace vs hard pvc and will need to be replaced eventually.

I have a Hayward inline chlorinator now and for approx 10 years. For the past 4-5 years we have difficulty unscrewing the top off to add the chlorine and to the point i can no longer add the chlorine myself. I need to ask someone else to do it and it is difficult for them as well. We would like to replace the chlorinator but afraid to get this same model with a screw top as we may have the same difficulty. Does Hayward sell a latch-on type lid rather than a screw-on type?
Reply
Unfortunately Hayward has not changed the design. The best way to prevent this from recurring is to keep the lid o-ring lubricated and to use the lid wrench - Part number 0211-0 or click on this link - http://www.inyopools.com/Products/07501352020738.htm#parts

Can the side socket connectors be removed to adjust the fit pipe connector installed glued and to short on one side?
Reply
Ron, If the pipe is too short, you can try cutting the pipe and using an additional piece of pvc and pvc coupler to extend the length.

Yesterday I was having trouble securing the screw-top lid to my in-line chlorinator.
It would not lock-in place and was leaking? It was threaded properly.
Reply
Hi Randy, You may need to replace the Lid O-ring, (viton) (CLX200K). Overtime is can become stretched and when that happens will prevent lid from closing properly.

I AM GOING TO BUY A HAYWARD CHLORINATOR. MY RETURN LINE FROM THE FILTER TO THE POOL IS 2 IN OD. SHOULD I GET THE CL200 OR THE
CL2002S. I SEE WHERE THE CL200 HAS 1.5 INCHES & THE CL2002S HAS
2 INCHES
Reply
Hi Gerald, If your pipe measures 2" OD, you will need the CL200 Chlorinator and the Union Connectors 1 1/2" Skt X 2" Slip WG (SP1500UNPAK2C).

I have a CL2002S chlorinator. It has no adjustment. It is either off or in maximum chlorination with no in between. My pool was sky high in chlorine. I now have been watching chlorine levels and either turn it off or on for adjustment. What can be done to fix this adjustment problem?
Reply
Hi Bob, You will need to replace the Control Knob Assembly w/O-ring (CLX200PA).

Can this be used for Bromine tabs also?
Reply
Joe, This can no be used for Bromine. You will need a brominator which you can view here: http://www.inyopools.com/Products/02200001004586.htm

WE HAVE THE HAYWARD CL2002S CHLORINE FEEDER AND AFTER IT IS TURNED BACK PAST 1/2 WAY SETTING NO CHLORINE IS BEING FEED TO THE POOL. WHAT COULD BE THE PROBLEM? WE EITHER GET TO MUCH CHLORINE OR NONE.
Reply
Hi, The problem could be with the control valve, it might need to be replaced.

What is the length of the chlorinator tubing I need for the pool
Reply
Hello- This is an inline chlorinator so you will not need tubing because it is installed directly into the plumbing. If you click here, you can see the installation recommendation on page 4.

May come across as a stupid question and if so forgive me. If the chlorinator is set to "Full" setting with one tablet can I increase my chlorine level with 2 or more tablets? In other words, should I load the chlorinator with 9 tablets then adjust the chlorine level via the flow control? What do recommend?
Reply
Hi Nicholas, Yes it would be no problem to fill the chlorinator with 9 tablets and then use the control valve for your output

I installed a Cl 200 and it sounds like a ocean running through it -My son has the same unit and it is very quiet what can i do to make this quiet

John, You may have air in your lines. The air will typically work its way out after a few days.

I want to fit one of your inline chlorine feeders in my system. Pump room and equipment are under ground and below waterline. All pipe work is 2" [50mm] and i'm concerned that your feeder will restrict flow and cause back pressure in the filter. Could you set my mind at ease. Pool capacity-: 65,500 litres. Sand filter flow -: 14 m3 /hr. Pump flow 10 m3/hr. Many thanks.
Reply
Hi, Bryan. This chlorinator is equipped with 2" pipe socket connections and can handle a flow rate of 11.4 to 20.4 m3/hr. This unit will not create back pressure within your circulation system.

I purchased the cl200 in line chlorinator what fittings do I need to attach it to 2"pvc? I only have the chlorinator
Reply
Hi, Nate. You will need the Union Connectors 1-1/2" Skt x 2" Slip - SP1500UNPAK2C.

Will this work with a variable speed pump
Reply
Hi, Eric. This chlorinator required a flow rate of 50-90 GPM. The variable speed pump will need to operate at an RPM that will provide sufficient water flow. The Powerclean Ultra VS In-Line Chlorinator - 25280-150-000 is a better option.

I do not need the slip fittings is this unit threaded on both ends for direct install into a 2 inch line with quick slip connects already there?
Based on your picture & the feeder model # you have 1-1/2" & not a 2" plumbing. See snip image & part # CL200 ( 42-150-1002 )
where can i find pvc pipe to fit the 11/2 silp connected
Reply
You should be able to find PVC at your local hardware store and if you need to reduce those 2 inch connectors to adapt to the 1.5 inch PVC then you can use these reducer bushings.
