What is the voltage on this unit? How long is the manufactures warranty? If the system requires repairs during warranty, what do I do?
Reply
This pump runs on 115V power. This unit comes with a 1 year manufacturer's warranty. If the pump needed repair, you would call Hayward directly and they would put you in touch with a warranty service station in your area.

What is the flow rating for this filter? Are the connections 1 1/2" or 2" and is it a 2 speed pump?
Reply
The designed flow rating for the S180T filter is 35 GPM the pump and filter both have 1.5" connections and this is a single speed pump

When should I change the sand in my filter?
Reply
You should change the sand in your filter every 5-7 years. You can generally tell that it is time if your pool water is not as clear as it normally is or when you notice the interval between backwashes is shorter. You can use > this guide to walk you through it.

How often do I have to replace the sand in my filter? What is normal operating pressure?
Reply
On a "fresh start-up" a filter would operate anywhere between 10-20 psi. As a general rule of thumb you only want to backwash when the pressure increases 8-10 psi. You want to make certain that the pump is being turned off whenever you move the handle on the valve. Once backwashing is complete (3-5 minutes), you can switch to the rinse option to re-settle the sand bed. Sand will typically last 5-7 years. Premature backwashing will wear down the size of the sand which will cause difficulties such as cloudy water and higher operating pressures.

Would a .75 pump be enough for a 24 ft round pool. 48 inches deep?
Reply
Yes you could use a a 3/4 HP pump on a 24' round pool, however a 24' round pool would be the upper limits for a 3/4 HP pump.

I bought an 18 inch pool filter for a 24 feet round pool, It takes 150 pounds of sand, is this an okay filter for that size pool?
Reply
Hi Charles, Yes an 18" sand filter would be a good choice for a 24' round above ground pool.

I've been recommended to buy a VL series Pump and Sand Filter for my round pool (26' by 52") it is a 3/4 HP and 13" Sand Filter Diameter. Is this sufficient for a 14,000 gallons. If not which model is the optimum, what do I need additionally to adapt it to a ProSeries above the ground pool Canister/Skimmer.

Hi Salvador, The Hayward Pump & Filter S180T Filter w/ 1 HP Matrix Pump would be more sufficient for your size pool than the VL Series Sand Filter System.

Does this pool pump have an off and on switch at the pump...Thanks in advance

Hi Kim, The pump that is included with this system does not comes with an On/Off Switch. The Hayward Pump & Filter S180T Filter w/ 1 HP Matrix Pump & Timer is equipped with the Hayward Above Ground Pool Pump Timer Microprocessor which will allow the pump to run for 6, 12, 18, or 24 hrs.

I have a 15' round above ground - Is this pump & filter ok or is too much. Thanks

Hi Susan, This system is too much for a 15' round pool, the S144T1540S package is what I will recommend.

Sue, I would recommend removing the extra sane. The filter will not work properly.

I purchased this last year, I changed the sand put it back together now when I run the pump the filter waste outlet is also letting water out at the same time. I tried to turn the handled in all directions but nothing stops it.

Hi Marie, To resolve the problem that you have you will need to replace the Diffuser w/ Gasket - SPX0714CA.

I have the 16x32 rectangle intex pool what size pump -n- filter combination do you recommend the set that came with it has a flow rate of 2800 GPH and it doesn't keep the water clear.also which saltwater pump will be compatible with that set.
Reply
Hello Ronnie, you can use this S180T92S, but you need to get different fittings to hook up to your intex pool. With the salt system there is only one for the intex pools 120v Krystal Clear Saltwater System Cg-28667 which unfortunately we don't carry.

Do you have an above ground or inground pool? What is the distance in feet from your pool pump to your skimmer on the side of the pool?

Hi, I have a 18' round pool. Inherited the pool when we bought the house so now sure on brand. What would be a good pump/filter combo for this size pool?
Thanks!

I recommend part number CC10092S which is a cartridge filter and the Hayward Matrix. A cartridge filter is going to filter the water better than the sand filter and with not that much water, it will visually make a difference going with the cartridge filter.

do you offer a manual for model s180t92s

What size Hayward Sand Filter should I use for my 22,000 gallon pool. thanks
Reply
The Hayward S210T Filter w/ 1.5 HP Matrix Pump - S210T93S would be a suitable pump filter combo choice, with above ground pools. It will filter out 21,120 gallons in eight hours and/or 26,400 gallons in ten hours. I would recommend, circulating it for tens hours for best filtration. If you have an Inground pool or only need a filter, you may use the Sand Filter W/Top Mount Valve 20" Tank - S210T or greater. You are able to oversize the filter as much as you want, you do not want under-size the filter. The S210T is the minimum filter size of the Hayward product line that you would want to install. Please note, to prevent pressurizing the filter, you will need to verify the gallons per minute of your pump provides does not exceed the filters maximum gallons per minute.

Hi what size pump and filter do I need for a 18 foot above ground round pool?

I just replaced the lateral assembly in our S-180T. it looks like the sand is low. I cannot estimate how many pounds are in the filter. Can you please tell me - should the sand half fill the filter? 3/4 full? How can I see when there is enough sand? Thanks.

This filter model uses 150 lbs of #20 silica sand.

I have a 24x12x52" what size sand filter system should I get

Hello! Would this 1-HP pump be sufficient for this sand filter containing 150 lbs of sand? Or, would it be better to get a 1.5-HP pump with this filter? My concern is overworking this 1-HP pump with a filter containing 150 lbs of sand and possibly reducing its lifespan.
Reply
Yes the 1 HP pump would be sufficient for this sand filter containing 150 lbs of sand. The filter would not work the pump, actually when you go higher on the HP of the pump you risk the chance of overworking the pump. For example this filter has a designed flow rate of 35 GPM and if the 1 HP is outputting 35 GPM then you are fine however if the 1.5 HP pump is outputting 50 GPM then then you get back pressure on the pump which is trying to put 50 GPM of water through a filter that can only handle 35 GPM.

I have the 16x32x52 Intex Rectangular Ultra Frame Above ground pool, approx 15,000 gallons. Would this pump and filter work for it? The Intex pump and filter it came with is not the greatest and started to leak last year and we can't figure out where leak is coming from. We would like something stronger.
Reply
Hi Casey, Yes this would be a great option for your pool and would be a huge upgrade from the pump filter that came with your Intex Pool. You may need to purchase a few Intex Adapters when you tackle this project.
