How is the weir gate attached? Is it attached at the top or the bottom?

The weir for the Hayward SP1070 is attached at the bottom of the skimmer's mouth. We do sell the Hayward SP1070 replacement weir under part number SPX1070KHR.

What is the difference between the SPX1070K and the SPX1070KHR. Can the SPX1070KHR be used on my SP1070 skimmer. And if so, do I need to do anything to make it fit?

The Hayward SPX1070K Weir has been discontinued for the Hayward SPX1070HR Weir which is a direct replacement for the SPX1070K. Thanks for the great question!

My skimmer is leaking inside of suction port on the side of my skimmer, not down. I'm told mine is older and has to be replaced with new model. Can I just replace bottom half of skimmer or whole thing? I can replace it myself if I don't have to bust concrete.

Before considering replacing the whole skimmer, I would suggest reading over the " How to fix a Pool Skimmer " With that information in mind, I would then suggest either the Aquamend Repair Epoxy or the A+B Epoxy to fix the leak.

I am looking for a skimmer lid. Don't know the manufacturer but lid is 8 3/8 or 8 1/2 inches D. Am giving two Ds as the cover was broken by a contractor then glued back together not so neatly. Appreciate your help.
Thank You, Phil

Phil- I was able to find a lid that would be close to the dimension you provided. The round cover would be for a Hayward SP1084 skimmer, which is part number 4040-19 (SPX1084R).

How do you attach the front of the intake to the bond beam of the pool?

The thickness of our wall 9 1/4”, will this model fit?
No, we are unable to find an extension for the SP1070 skimmer. You can use Model # 50W1051 & 51B1004.

Thank you for your reply and suggestions. With an old pool, it’s difficult to find corresponding parts.

Hello, Unfortunately, it will not work with your pool.

No it is too short & we do not see an extension for it, although sometimes the concrete itself is made as the extension but more on new installs. we do see Pentair part # 84151500 ( 50-102-1518 ) that is a 9-1/4" throat length, 7-3/4" x 9-3/4" O.D. x 6-1/4" x 8-1/4" I.D. face.

I typed in the part # given for the Pentair skimmer, but nothing came up. Could you send me a picture with description of the skimmer you are referring to? Thank you.

How does the weir door attach
Reply
Hello Rochelle, in this picture you can see that one side screws to the skimmer housing itself and then two tabs will hold the flapping door itself to the rest of the weir assembly.
