I have a Hayward sand filter with a SP710 multiport valve. Do I need the SPX710X32 or the SPX710XR50?
Reply
The Hayward >SPX710XR50 is a valve that is only used on Hayward D.E. filters. If you have a Hayward sand filter you would either need a >SPX710X32 (Model S200 filter)) or a > >SPX710X62 (Pro Series Models).

I need parts for my filter valve. When I look at the filter parts breakdown, it gives me different choices. How do I know which one is the one I need?
Reply
In order to locate the correct parts we will need to know the model number of the filter valve. Two identical filters can have two different valves. Typically the valve model will be located on the label of the valve. If there is no model number on the valve, you can try to see if there are any part numbers on the valve itself. Once you've located you valve model you can check out our >Filter Valve Parts.

Do you have Parts #SP710x62 1.5 Vari-Flo Control Valve for Model S244S?

Hi Ed, Yes we do carry all the Parts for the Hayward SP710X62 Valve here.

Will this multiport valve support salt water without breakdown ?
Reply
Yes this valve can accomodate salt water at the levels of a traditional saltwater pool which is 3,000 - 4,000 PPM of salt, however the pump would not withstand ocean water which has a much higher concentration of salt more in the range of 50,000 PPM of salt.

I have a Pac Fab SP-710 sand 1 1/2" 6 position valve that needs replaced is this the correct one. It's on a Pac Fab super Flo sand filter and is a side mount.
Reply
Hi Jason, For the older Pac Fab filters which used the Hayward SP-710 valve then the proper valve replacement would be the Pentair 261173 Valve.

I have an old s-200 filter with a valve part no.sp-710-32. The pump and return openings are the same size facing the same way, straight back. Pictures of the replacement show two opening configurations. One which are the same (like mine) and another which shows two different sizes and which face in two different directions. Which configuration does the replacement have?
Reply
Hi Charlie, The images we have on the Generic Version of the S200 Valve shows the port configuration better. The port configuration on the Hayward original would be the same as shown on the images for the S200 generic valve, I hope this helps.

I need to replace my Hayward side mounted multi port valve. The only number I can find is SP710XA-13. I purchased a 710 series valve but the lower pipe going into the filter is about 1" too high. I can't seem to match this model # that is on the existing valve. Any thoughts?

Hello, Hayward makes a few different side mount valves. We will need to know the model number on your filter tank.

Will this Vari Flo Multiport Valve 1.5 work on my S240 sand filter? How can I tell if I need a 1and 1/2 inch or a 2 inch. It holds 300lbs of sand. Since it was installed in 1992, I can not find any numbers on it. If I just replaced the top part, which part do I need? Thanks
Reply
Yes this valve does work on the model S240 filter. You would need to measure the diameter of the pvc glued to the valve itself to decipher whether it is a 1.5 inch or 2 inch. These should be only 1.5 inch though. Sometimes the pvc is labeled as well with this information. The lid for the valve would be key number 20 on this parts diagram. One is for the black and one is for the white lid/top.

My vavle says sp 710x32 so does the spx 710x32 fit my filter also?
Reply
As long as your model number is listed in the alternate part numbers listed in the item's details then this would be a replacement valve. It looks as if you may be missing a "SP' of some sorts in front of this model number.

What is the center to center spacing of the fittings that go in and out of the valve to the sand filter. Is that spacing the same for either size valve.
Reply
Hi, The center-to-center spacing is 5" for both the 1.5" and 2" valve.

Does this valve fit the s-240 manufactured in the late 80s

Gary, This will fit the S240 filters regardless of age. Here is a breakdown of the filter: http://www.inyopools.com/pool_parts_hayward_s_200_s_240_sand_filter.aspx

Hello,
I was reading your Q&A on multiport valves for Hayward Sand Filters. Found one similar to mine, but appears I need to provide you info. I have the multiport valve SP710XA-13. Your listings do not indicate a replacement for this. The Filter Tank is a Hayward S200 series, S/N 4879 and in small print is says s200x on the side of label. Model identified on the label is S200 High Flow Series. Installed in 2002. Cannot find any ID markings on it. Center to center = 5", Diam. pipes = 2"

Hi Chris, Since your label says you have a Hayward S200 filter then this is the correct replacement valve for you as this is the only valve that has been used on the S200.

can you open the VARI FLO MULTI VALVE and is there a rubber gasket inside or how can you check to see if it is flowing correctly and operating correctly. The reason I am
asking is that I don't see any water flowing through the glass cup on the side of the Multiport Valve. I might have a blockage. Please reply
Reply
There would only be water flowing through that glass sight glass when the valve is in the waste, backwash or rinse cycle. As long as water is flowing back to the pool when in the filter, and water is being discharged when in the first three settings I mentioned then it will be functioning correctly.

Can I replace the sight glass for the S200 filter? Ours cracked and I don't see this part listed in the S200 replacement parts. Thanks!

My Hayward sp 710x32 valve is leaking around selector handle. Is there gaskets/O-rings that need replacing?

Hi. Yes, they are o-rings and gaskets in the valve, those parts are listed on the Hayward Multiport Vari-Flow SP-710X Parts Diagram.

Could you let us know the model # of your filter? (i.e. S200, S240, S244T, etc..) you should be able to find this on the label on the side of the filter tank. Simply click on the reply link below to post back your information.

i need a multiport valve with 2 inch plumbing do u have that

This part number 26-253-1225 side mount multiport valve has ports that you can hard plumb to a filter per its specifications. If you need a valve complete with the attachments ready to be mounted to your filter then we will need the specific filter make and model to confirm for you. If you cannot locate that information please send us an image of the filter and current valve to upload@inyopools.com so we can review and advise.

Hi James, This is not the correct valve for your filter. You will require this S244S Replacement Valve

Do you have this valve currently in stock? It appears mine has failed, and my pool maintenance company has said that this valve may be difficult to find. I have an S-240 sand filter. Thanks!
