Will a gas heater operate at the low speed of a dual speed motor?
 Reply

A  Answered on 1/16/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Probably not - Most gas heater will shut off at low GPM levels (20-40) to keep the heater cores from overheating - 20 for 200 BTUs, 40 for 400 BTUs. Depending on your pool system you might get these GPM levels at the low speed but generally these heaters must be run at the motor's high speed.

What is the difference between an Electronic and Millivolt ignition?
 Reply

A  Answered on 10/10/2012 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

The basic answer is that Millivolt is the old style of ignition, using a standing pilot light. While the electronic ignition uses a spark start system like a gas grill. Electronic ignitions are more efficient in gas usage and also are better suited for high wind areas where a pilot light might get extinguished.

Hi. I am replacing a Teledyne heater for a in ground pool. The heater is indoors and is vented to the outside. I'm looking at the LRZ400EN. I understand this has the electronic ignition and not the mili volt I have now. I will have an electrician wire it. My question is about the venting and if I need a draft hood. I know I need to vent it to the outside. I had hoped to just connect to the venting that's there now. Do I need the draft hoot to be able to attach the venting to the heater?

Yes, I would recommend you sill use the mfg drafthood if you will be using this heater indoors. The correct draft hood for this model is R0499605.If you would like to consult Jandy directly, their  contact # is 800-822-7933

I'm planning on replacing my Laars Heater LX 400N - LCP - is this the correct model for replacement? Are there others to compare?

Hi John, This unit can replace your existing LX 400N. I'm not sure what the LCP stands for but we also have other manufacturers that you can select from, click link> Pool Heaters.

I have a lite2LJ heater in operation at this time. It controls the pump operation as well as heating the pool. I want to know if the legacy 400,000 will do the same thing.

Hello, Louis. The other Jandy Heater's do not offer that technology. The Pentair Heat Pump UltraTemp 140,000 BTU (Almond) - 460934 does offer the AutoSet (time clock over-ride) feature monitors water temperature and turns the water circulation pump on and off as needed to maintain desired pool temperatures. Can I replace a Jandy lite 2 lj250 p with this heater? Needs to be propane.

Hi, Carl. Unfortunately, you can use this heater to replace a Jandy Lite 2 LJ250P.  This is a natural gas heater, we do not have this unit available in propane. You can use the Jandy Pro Series JXi Heater - JXI400P as long as you meet the installation requirements.

I have a Jandy LRZ400MN. It is leaking from what appears to be the top and dripping down to the flame area. What can be done to locate the leak and repair?

For the Jandy LRZ, I would contact the manufacturer directly to have them advise if there is a particular troubleshooting method for this heater.
