Can I replace the bulb with water above the return? Do I have to drain the water so it is below the return?

Page 5 of the Aqualuminator owner's manual here http://www.inyopools.com/manuals/365/pentair_lighting_aqualuminator.pdf gives detailed instructions on how to replace an Aqualuminator bulb. Per the owner's manual it states that "It is desirable to reduce the water level to the lower edge of the flow director. This makes bulb assembly replacement easier, but it is not mandatory."

Is there a temperature rating for this bulb? My pool is heated and the water temp coming through the return can be upwards of 95 degrees Fahrenheit. Would this be an issue with the seal on the bulb?

Hi Rick, I looked through the Pentair Aqualuminator Owner's Manual and did not find any information that states a maximum temperature, just a temperature for freezing conditions. You can call Pentair at 1.800.831.7133 to verify.
