Can I replace my Pentair 177475, 1.5 hp ,1.10 SF, volts 230/115 with this pump?
Reply
Hello Jason - You can use the Pentair 342000 as long as your supply voltage is 230. Some plumbing will be required.

I currently have a pentair 1.25hp 230/115 volts hooked up to filter with 100 gpm. The motor on the pump is going bad and I want to replace it with a new variable speed model. Will the Superflo VS 1-1/2 hp work? If not what would you recommend?
Reply
Hello Dan - The Superflo 342000 will work as long as your supply voltage is 230. Some plumbing will be required. Also, the Superflo has 1.5" ports. If you have 2" pvc, you may want to consider the Pentair 011008. The 011008 also requires 230 voltage.

If there is a power failure will the Superflo (model 342000) lose its programmed settings? If this is the case, is there also a way to protect the settings so that the pump does not require reprogramming after each power cut?
Reply
Hello Gary - I was able to pull this straight from the SuperFlo VS manual "NOTE: If power is lost while the pump is in the ScheduleAdvance mode, then the 24-hour schedule will automatically start when power is restored."

I will be replacing my pool pump within the next few weeks and am considering this model. I read a review that says this pump is noisy and has a short life. Noise will be a factor since the pool equipment is located outside the master bedroom. Your input will be appreciated.
Reply
Hello Linda - This pump on a high speed will be as loud as any other pump. If you run this pump on a low speed, the noise will be minimal. We have not heard of this pump having a shorter life. We have heard the opposite. The variable speed pumps seem to last much longer than traditional one speed pumps.

The 2015 model 342000 SuperFlo Variable Speed Pump is now 110v or 220v correct? I want to replace my super pump but it is a 1.5 hp 110v.

Gary, Yes you can replace your Super Pump that is wired for 110V with this SuperFlo Variable Speed Pump.

My current pump is single speed 1 HP 115/230 1 PH 60HZ with 1 1/2" inlet/outlet... can I replace it with this pump?
Reply
Brian- You should have no problem replacing your old pump with the SuperFlo VS 342000. The only thing I would double check is the flow rating on your current filter, to ensure it can handle the gpm of the pump at high speed.

I have a 25,000 gal pool (16X32) w/ 1-1/2 Inlets/outlets. All I do is circulate water and vacuum (by hand) I have a standard 2-speed 3/4 hp 110 volt motor. Why would I need a variable speed motor and what savings would I see?
Reply
Since you have a 2 speed 3/4HP motor, switching to a variable speed pump you would not see much of a savings.

I have a Waterway Model# MUSTS-107. I'm changing it out, will a SuperFlo VS 1/12 HP work for me?

Yes the SuperFlo VS 1-1/2 HP would be a good replacement for your Waterway pump. I also like the Speck Variable Speed Pump.

The SuperFlo VS pump costs significantly less to operate because its variable speed technology moves water more efficiently at lower speeds.SuperFlo VS pumps bring the remarkable energy cost savings of variable speed technology to standard pools at an affordable price. They slash energy costs by up to 80%* while helping to keep your pool sparkling clean and inviting. SuperFlo VS pumps come to you from the trusted leader that launched variable speed technology to the swimming pool industry a full 5 years ahead of every other pump manufacturer…Pentair Aquatic Systems. No wonder they still outsell all other variable speed pumps combined. The SuperFlo VS pump is easy to install and easy to use. And unlike others, you don’t need to buy and install a separate timer

I have an old Magnetek Century Centurion single speed pump (Sp1615-z-1-Bep). 1.5 hp, 60 hz. Volts 208-230/115. Amps SF 8.7-7.8/15.6. The pump is old as the hills. It still works, but is sucks the watts. I am looking to replace it with a variable speed pump. My pool is approx 25-26,000 gallons. Will this SuperFlo be compatible to replace it? I believe my pump has 2" pvc pipe. Does the SuperFlo come with 2" inlet and discharge and if not does it come with bushings?
Reply
Hello Gene, This superflo pump would NOT be sufficient with your pool. For the size of your pool you would want to go with the IntelliFlo Variable Speed Model # (011018).

Would a 1-1/2 HP variable speed pump be too big for a 6700 gallon pool?
Reply
Hello, Yes the pump would be oversized. If you run it at the lower rpm's, it shouldn't be an issue. Please double check your voltage to confirm that you have 220v.

I have an old single speed 1 hp pump that has 208-230/115 on the pump motor plate. Can I use the 342000 or do I have to get the 342001? Also, do both pumps come with the 2 couplings or do those have to be bought separately?
Reply
Hi Dave, You could go with either the 342000 or the 342001 SuperFlo Variable Speed Pump. The 342001 SuperFlo is the newer design which has a nicer control panel and has added a fan cooled motor, you can see the 342001 has fins on the motor to accomodate the fan where the 342000 does not. I would suggest the newer 342001 SuperFlo Variable Speed Pump since it is only $30 more and has some nice upgrades.

I have a Pentair Nautilus FNS 36 filter and I had a single speed 1 HP Pentair challenger pump that just broke so i am looking to replace it with a dual speed or variable speed pump. My in ground pool is 17,600 gallons and feet of head is 40 feet. Would this pump work for my setup or would it be too much? I am also thinking about a 1HP Dual Speed Whisperflo as well. Which would be the better option?

Hello Brad the superflo VS pump will be a great fit for your pool and better then a dual speed since you are able to control the RPMS and dial them to your pools needs

The 'specs' page on the Pentair website shows that this model (342001) comes with 1.5" and 2" unions for easy replacement. Are these unions included in the box with the pump?
Reply
Hello Janet - The unions are included with the SuperFlo VS.

So if I have 2" inlet/outlet PVC I will be able to install the Superflo VS 342001 with the supplied unions that come with the pump, correct? And thank you so much for responding quickly, that is so helpful.

Yes this pump comes with both 1.5 and 2 inch unionized fittings.

This is a good vs pump model for your amount of water but to most efficient we would also need the model filter that you have to properly size based on gallons per minute ratings.

pump quit working only power led light is lite. what should I do

1. Replace fuse, reset breaker/GFCI. 2. Tighten mains wire connections. Check if the pump can be rotated by hand and remove any blockage. Replace pump. Also Check that back of pump is free from dirt and debris. Use compressed air to clean. Pump will automatically restart after one (1) minute.

Hi Kenneth, The SuperFlo VS 1-1/2 HP Variable Speed Pump (220V) (342000) would be an suitable replacement. You have to confirm that you have 220 volts electrical supply though.

would the 342001 be a suitable replacement for a 1 hp single speed pump on a 15000 gal pool. We have a hayward cx900re filter. 220 system

This Superflo VS has a higher total horse power than the pump you had on there. With that said you at may only be able to use it at half speed at most to be sure that it is running within pressure parameters for your system.

Just finished installing this pump to replace a single speed 1Hp. unit. What is the best way to program it, considering that using it for the spa intermittently would be a deviation than the daily pool operation?

Hi Tom, You keep or edit the default settings and use the "Override" mode for when you want to use the spa.

Hello, the Superflo VS pump comes with a built-in programmable control panel. There would be no need to use a separate timer. Please note that the 342000 model is not available and has been replaced with the 342001 version. Here is the link for that model: VS PUMP VAR SPEED W/ TIMER SUPER FLO PUMP 115/230V

Pump installed one week ago by a licensed electrician. It is a replacement pump. I am attempting to vacuum a very dirty pool. We are doing it in small increments with me vacuuming and my husband babysitting the pump to shut off if the water flow diminishes. The last stop we got an error message 02. We have shut the breaker off and restarted several times, but continue to get the same error code.. There doesn't seem to be a clog. What should we do?
Reply
Becky, Thank you for your question. Error code 2 indicates (Absolute Phase current limit exceeded). Per the manual: These errors can occur based on operating conditions and the UL 60730 required self-diagnostic safety software. If they do not clear after multiple restart attempts the drive should undergo a hard power cycle. Disconnect main power by turning off the breaker long enough for the keypad LEDs to turn off. After power is reconnected if one of these errors continues to reappear, the drive may need service. Also, please confirm the pump model and voltage. The 342000 pump was discontinued last year and is 220v only.

I just bought a Pentair Superflo vs to replace by old 1 1/2 HP pump which gave out. Currently there is a filter cartridge from American Commander with 75 SQ. The name plate is very warn out but it shows max 50 psi. Would a Hayward C1200 Star-Clear Plus, 120-Square-Foot, 1-1/2-Inch Pipe Pool Filter be sufficient for this pump or would I need something bigger? Thanks.

The Star Clear Plus 120 Sq Ft. Filter 1.5" Ports - C1200 is able to be installed with, the use of the VS PUMP VAR SPEED W/ TIMER SUPER FLO PUMP 115/230V - 342001. The filter has a design flow rate of 120 gallon per minute and the pump provides a max flow of approximate 105 gallons per minute. The filter is capable of turning over 57,600 gallons in 8-hours.

1A- Power Module over current detected: If this error displays multiple times, then there may be a problem with the pump’s rotating assembly. Please disassemble the pump and investigate to see if there is a problem with the impeller or mechanical seal. See page 14 “Pump Disassembly” for instructions for disassembling the pump.

Hi, Reegee. The Superflo VS Pump is not a suitable replacement for a Whisperflo Pump because the performance is different. The Superflo pump is a medium head pump and the Whisperflo Pump is a high head pump.
