I'm looking to replace my G.E motor. My model is a C1318. Your description matches but you say this is a Marathon motor. Is this right?

G.E. and Marathon are one in the same. G.E was purchased by Regal Beloit and is now under the Marathon name. The quality of the motor has not changed.

I'm trying to replace the motor on my pool pump but all these numbers and abbreviations on the motor label are really confusing me. What do they mean?

Replacing a pool pump motor is not as difficult as it seems. You can try looking here. If you need help figuring out what the information on your label means. If you are still having difficulty figuring it out you can call us at our toll free number or you can send us a photo of your motor label here.

Does 5KC38SN6084AX include gaskets and/or O rings?
Reply
Hello Wally - I am sorry to say that the gaskets and / or o-rings do not come with the motor. This motor, as with almost all other motors , have multiple applications. The gaskets and o-rings would be specific to the pump model you have.
Reply
I think I asked the wrong question a few minutes ago. I just bought the above C1245 pump motor which will hook into a Sta-Rite Pump system. Do I need any gaskets or o rings for the motor to mount to the Sta-Rite system? After reviewing the diagrams, it appears not?
Reply
The o-rings and seals that you would need are specific to the model of the front plastic pump housing that the motor is mounted to. We see that the manufacturer is Sta Rite but we would need to know which model Sta Rite pump to cross reference that seal and gasket kit. You can call in to speak with a representative with that information or even email us here to continue the research on this.

Is there an energy efficient replacement pool pump motor for the 5KC38SN6084AX? Thank you

Can this motor be used outside uncovered or must it be protected from rain/weather?

Hi Becca, This motor can be used outdoors uncovered. However you can extend the life of the motor if you use the Protective Pool Motor Cover to protect the motor from the rain and other form of precipitation.

I have a Marathon Electric pump for In-ground pool. The numbers are pretty worn but I can still read C1245 on it and that its 1 hp. Is this the same motor you have listed as (C1245/B2853?)
It has gotten really loud and I think it's about shot and is in need of replacement.
Please advise ASAP.
Thank ou so much

Hi Rhonda, The A.O. Smith 1 HP Up Rate Square Flange Motor (C1245, B2853) will be the correct replacement motor.

Our pump motor needs replacing. It is model 5KC39SN2812X Will C1245 be the right replacement? Thanks
Reply
I was able to cross reference the model number with an online search and came up with the c1090 series motor. That motor is a round flange 56J frame. The motor in question, C1245, is not a suitable replacement. We will need the make and model of your PUMP to cross reference the motor, as the model information does not correspond with any motors we currently stock.

I have a marathon electric pool pump 5kc38sn6084ax.. The pump is very loud and now it seemed to stop working due to possible overheating.
Would this pump work as an replacement?
How loud is this pump?
Reply
The 1 HP Square Flange Motor (C1245, B2853) is the correct replacement motor. I do not have any information on how loud the motor is, but it should be no louder than any other new motor, of which are fairly quiet.

what other parts are usually replaced along with this motor
Reply
It is very common to replace the shaft/pump seal when changing out a motor. You will need to identify the PUMP you have in order to determine the correct seal part you would need. I would recommend a Tune up kit, that includes all seals and o-rings, if it is available for your pump.

my pool pump does not have any name on it per say- I purchased the C1245 replacement motor and now need the go kit, what part # is that. And what about an impeller?
Reply
Hi Donita, now that you have the c1245 motor, all I would need is what kind of pump you have, it's normally on the base where the motor is attached there would be a number we can cross reference and get which go kit and impeller. Please let me know horsepower as well.

my pump model # is sp260 7x10 (Hayward)
motor # 5kcr39sn2818ax. Is C1245 the replacement motor. Is the motor seal that is usually replaced with motor something I can replace?
Reply
The correct replacement motor for the Hayward Super Pump 1 HP Single Speed - SP2607X10 is the A.O. Smith 1 HP Round Flange Up Rate Motor - UST1102. The Tune Up Kit Hayward Super Pump - GOKIT3 is the seal kit that contains all of the o-rings and the shaft seal for your pump. The model of your motor does reveal the c1245 motor, but that motor is a square flange and the Super Pump model is a c-face front to the motor. The two different motors are not interchangeable.

I have a DynaMax 5KC38SNX6084AX I need replaced. I just purchased this motor from you and it arrived today. The visible difference is their is the capacitor hump on top of this motor and not one on my DynaMax. Will this work? Or could you provide me with the right motor so I can return this one?
Thank you

Yes, that motor will work for the Dyna Max. The frame will fit and the total horsepower is the same. The one you received will even save you a little money on your energy bill because it uses less amps.

Does anyone know the running amp utilization of this motor? I know the max numbers are listed, but I assume that is startup amps and not normal run rate. thanks!

Hello Todd- Unfortunately the only information we currently have is the Max Amps. I would suggest calling the MFG Century/A.O. Smith at 1800-262-6484 for that technical information.

Good morning John, This motor will work for you. You will need a 7/16 wrench, 9/16 wrench, pair of needle nose pliers,1/4 nut driver and a flat head srew driver. You will also need a seal kit. If you let me know what type of pump this is going on I can recommend the correct kit.

My pump has a Dyna Tech 1 horse motor now starting to whine, easily noticeable. It has a 6 inch flange, has kept the pool pressure at 12 with the solar panel on. my question is, is a 1 horse the max size to safely run for 10,000 gallons? or can you increase to 1/12 safely with out ruining pipes or anything else?
Reply
Hi, Bill. It's hard to say we may need additional information. However, you can replace your single speed motor with the Century V-Green ECM16SQU motor and the impeller. You can control the motor's RPM just in case it might be too much flow for your system.

Motor whining and my local store does not have marathon motor should I replace with 1 hp or move up to 1 and a half Hp pool is 14,000 gallons
Reply
Hi, Jeff. The Marathon motor company is no longer in business. Before increasing the HP of the pump, you would first have to find out if your system can handle the additional water flow. Then you would need to replace the impeller along with any relevant parts. If not then you will have to stick with the 1 HP or upgrade your equipment.

The pump housing has weathered label. I can read Sta-Rite "P2R" but the Code Number is almost illegible. It feeds to a Pentair DE filter rated at 66 GPM.

For the P2R Sta Rite series you can always use the GOKIT54 and just remove the copper cone in the seal plate if you have one. You can view that cone on key 7 on the Sta Rite Duraglass Parts Diagram.

Does this pump require lubrication/oil? I installed this motor 2 1/2 years ago and it has worked fine until about a week ago....now it's still working but it is very loud. Like loud enough that I am self-conscious that the neighbors might complain!
Second question: Is 2 1/2 years (8 hrs./day) all that I should expect out of this pump or should it last longer than this?

Hi, Richard. This motor does not require any lubrication. These motors can last longer based on the condition that it kept in.

Hello,
I have CTX MOD# B2661, will this be a suitable replacement?
The B661 and the B853 are compatible because they have the same frame (56Y) and a total HP rating of 1.25. The main difference between the motors is energy efficiency. The B661 is an energy-efficient model, while the B853 is a standard efficiency; this means it costs about 15 to 18 percent more to operate the B853 than the B661 for the same horsepower output.

Is this a replacement for my motor that is loudly screeching? The label on my motor reads that the frame type is "56Z" and this one appears to be 56Y, are they still compatible?
In case the pictures aren't legible it states: Marathon Electric
MOD 5KC38SN6084AZ,
HP 1, HZ 60, V115/230, PH1, RPM3450, CODE M, SF 1.25, FR 56Z
CAT NO C1245
Also, what shaft seal and gaskets do I need? I see no other markings or labels anywhere that identify anything about the pump. Do you know what pump it is?
Hi Joe, yes, this is the correct replacement motor for the motor included in your photo. You will also need a Sta Rite Dura Glas / Max E Glas seal kit when you replace your motor. We put together this Video on How to Replace a Pool Pump Motor which you may find helpful when you tackle this project. Be sure to remove the copper insert cone if you have one that will be in the seal plate.

All the specs match except for the FR. Current FR is 56Z replacement motor is 56Y. Is this compatible or needs additional part.

Hello Lorraine. A motor with a 56Y frame type is not a compatible replacement for a motor with a 56Z frame type. The Z designation indicates a Round Flange (C Face) with a flatted shaft end on which the impeller is secured. The 56Y designation indicates a Square Flange with a threaded shaft end on which the impeller is threaded. Attached please find a brief tutorial on this topic. What Does My Pump Motor’s Frame (FR) Rating Mean? If the part number or catalog number remain visible the correct replacement can be identified. How to Read Pump Motor Labels
