I have an "old" style air vent tube that broke off at the top. Can I just cap it off with a pvc cap, and if not will the "new " style fit on my filter. Do they screw in or are they glued in.
thanks kevin

Hello Kevin, We suggest removing the old broken air vent tube and installing a whole new one. The new Air Bleed Tube Assembly should slide into the bottom manifold and be held in place without need for glue or epoxy.

the screen at the top has a hole in it - do I have to replace the entire assembly ?

Hi TC, Unfortunately the Screen for the Air Bleed Tube Assy F/420 Sq Ft (170028) is not sold separately, so will have to replace the entire assembly.

What is the purpose of the tube and the screen? I, too, have a hole in the screen. Would that be a reason for a quick increase in my filter pressure? I've recently started having problems with my pressure rising quickly after cleaning the filters. The only different thing I have noticed in the screen on the end of the tube is torn.

Hi Stacey, The Air Bleed Tube Assy is used as a vent for releasing any air that is in the line through the pressure relief valve of the filter. If there is a hole in the screen that would allow debris and or D.E. Powder to get back into the pool. If the pressure increases after cleaning out the filters that is an indicator that the filters wasn't cleaned out properly or needs to be replaced, not because there is a hole in the air bleed assy screen.

Hi Darwin, You will have to replace the entire air tube with the new style Air Bleed Tube Assy.

I have a Pentair 420 filter. It was installed in 2006. The existing air bleed tube needs to be replaced, but it seems to be rigidly connected to the bottom manifold, How do I remove the existing tube and replace it with Air Bleed Tube Assy F/420 Sq Ft (170028)?

Hi, Bill. To remove the old Air Bleed Tube Assembly, you will just pull it out of the Bottom Manifold and insert the new one into the same port.
