Does this item fit the CP520 filter housing? I've noticed the base is ever so slightly wider and the current clamp assemply won't grab the bolt due to the spring "nut" being too recessed now. Can this clamp secure the top chamber housing even though it is as old as the older bottom housing?

Yes, the Clamp Assembly, PT5000/Clean & Clear Plus (190003) is correct for the Clean & Clear Plus Filter 520 Sq Ft Filter - 160332 The tank/body o-ring may need to be replaced and/or applying Magic Lube O-ring Lubricant 1 Oz. Teflon - 630 helps with the ease of closing.

I have a "PacFab" CC240P. The parts diagram says the part number for the "clamp kt, tension control" is 178565. Is the a replacement for that part?

We have looked through all of our documentation and nothing is coming up for 178565, however this Clamp Assembly is the proper Clamp Assembly for the Pac Fab CC240P so this will be the proper replacement for your filter.

Our pool installed in June 1996 by blue Haven in Houston . The filter is a SuperStar-Clear C-4000
the clamp to hold top/bottom together has 2 barrel nuts/ springs. I was told by a local pool
Service co. That the clamp no longer available. My filter is the 4 cartridge 420 sqft.

Unfortunately, the DEX2400J Clamp Assembly is discontinued without a replacement. There are other items available shown here http://www.inyopools.com/pool_parts_hayward_super_star_clear_cartridge_filter.aspx The Hayward Swimclear Cartridge Filter 425 sqft - W3C4030 is the replacement filter to the Super Star-Clear C-4000.
