After I changed the new impeller, why is water leaking out from the bottom of the pump?
 Reply

A  Answered on 10/26/2014 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Minh - This is most likely your shaft seal which needs to be replaced. If you have the Hayward Super II then you would need the Hayward Super II Shaft Seal we also carry a Hayward Super II Tune up Kit which includes the shaft seal as well as all the o-rings and gaskets for your pump. I typically would recommend going the Tune up Kit route as this will ensure that you are replacing all the items which typically cause this leak.

To find the correct shaft seal, we need to know the model number or make and model of your pump's housing. This motor can be mounted on several pump housing, and each one can use a different shaft seal.

can you use a hayward impeller on a century pump
 Reply

A  Answered on 3/30/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Matt S.

Yes, you can use a Hayward Impeller (pump part) on a Century motor. Century/A.O. Smith manufactures the motor, not the pump housing. To make sure you are looking at the right part, match the part number to the one on your current impeller. Or you use the pump housing's model number to find the correct parts breakdown on our pump part's page.

Super II SP3007EEAZ pump with a 2-sp Century motor. Cat B975, part 177060. HP = 1.0-.12, SF 1.40. Changing the motor to a 1-speed ST1102; also rated 1 HP with SF = 1.5. Pump came with a SP3007-C impeller, which is apparently rated for .75 hp, not 1.0. Do I need to upgrade to a SP3010 impeller? Pump is already more than I need--pool's only 10,000 gallons, but OTOH, if I'm paying the same for electricity either way, maybe the more aggressive impeller, with shorter run-times, is indicated?

A  Answered on 7/10/2017 by InyoPools Product Specialist Patrick P.

Hi Dave, If your impeller is a SP3007C impeller then you can go with the UST1102 1HP Single Speed Up Rate Motor which is less expensive and will cost you less to operate then the ST1102 Motor. When replacing your motor we suggest a Hayward Super II Seal Kit.

Hi, Mike. Several system and equipment issues can lead to low water flow or pressure. I would recommend checking out these Inyo Blogs and Guides which can help you locate and correct the cause of this issue, Low Water Flow: Locate and Correct.

Hi, Ed. First, inspect the impeller and the impeller ring to see if something is caught in it or the impeller ring is worn and loose.

My impeller has broken. I am having a time finding the replacement part. I replaced the motor, it's a Century UST1152 1.5 HP. My broken impeller has the part number Hayward SP2610-C. The motor had quit running and when I replaced the motor with the Century, that's when I saw the impeller was broken. Can you help with the correct impeller?

The best way to really be sure as to which impeller that you need, we will need the model name or number of the front pump housing that the motor bolted to. If you are not sure of that model you can always email us pictures of it to upload@inyopools.com so we can identify it for you.

A similar question was asked but answered with suggesting downsizing a motor. However, my current motor which works is 1.0/1.4HP peak, but the current impeller is the SP3007-C rated for 3/4 HP. Can I upgrade to the SP3010-C? The Dimension photos aren't the same on the two products so I can't compare the sizes.

Hi, Chris. You can upgrade to the SPX3010C impeller, only if your filter is large enough to handle the water flow.

It is a Hayward StarClear C900 Plus. I believe it’s connected by 2” pipe. The pump is on the same level as the pool.

Hi Paul, Thanks for the photos! Can you pull any part #'s from the white label which is on the green pump housing, the label next to the discharge pipe on the green housing? Also, do you see any manufacturer names on the green pump housing like Marlow, Purex, Sta-Rite, Swimquip, Anthony, etc.. If you could click the reply link below post any of this additional requested information.

The label on the filter housing cannot be read. Too faded. It is a Purex filter. Have included external and close up internal images with measuring tape against inflow opening in which the impeller inserts. Thus if you have an impeller that is 1.75 in OD maximum or less and the length of the impeller ( depth) along the shaft does not exceed 2.25 in it should work. Thanks.

Hi Paul, Can you check to see if you can pull any part #'s from the basket, lid, impeller or any other parts? Normally these are stamped into the plastic or copper. Normally if we can get any of these part #'s it may lead us into the right direction.
