Could you reply to this email with the make and model of your filter, also if you could send photo's of the filter and/or the filter label that would help.

I HAVE A HAYWARD 1.5 HP PUMP AND E200 SAND FILTER I KNOW 1 OF THE LATERALS ARE BAD BECAUSE IT SPITS SAND BACK IN POOL BUT WHEN I TRY TO VACUM OR BACK WASH THERE SEEMS NOT TO BE ANY PRESSURE TO DO OR VERY LITTLE FLOW THROW VACUM

Hi, You may need to do a thorough backwash or the sand in the filter is old and needs to be replaced along with any broken lateral(s). You may also want to inspect your pump to make sure nothing is clogging it.

I have an E Series Sand filter but cannot identify if it is a 100, 200 or 250 model. Packing slip when delivered simply says 23" filter system. I need to order a standpipe and want to make sure I get the correct one. Filter is 13 years old so most of the tags on it are illegible
Reply
Hello Joe, For the E-series the only one available that is not obsolete is 4802-04C which is for e-200 Lateral Assembly With Pipe (sx180da). You can try and contact Hayward 800-657-2287 to see if they have a replacement part for that model.

I have been getting sand in my pool for a couple of years. I was told to and did inspect the Lateral Assembly in my sand filter before I put sand in. It visually appeared fine but I am still getting sand in the pool. Could there be a very small crack somewhere in the lateral assembly in the sand filter? I am thinking about replacing just the lateral assembly w/pipe. Advice?
Reply
Yes, we recommend inspecting that lateral assembly. They are known to get damaged and cause sand to get back to the pool. Also, you may want to inspect the spider gasket in the multi-port valve. If as soon as you backwash the sand returns back to the pool then it may also be the spider gasket.

Will this work in my sta-rite t-240by-1 sand filter. I don’t like the collection stand that comes with it. It is cracked.
Reply
Hi, Darrin. This Later Assembly is NOT compatible with the Sta-Rite T240BP-1. You will need to purchase the Collector Hub Assy - WC137-519P along with eight (8) Laterals - 24600-0003.

I have a crack in lateral pipe, am using new product Aqualoon which is a cotton ball instead of sand. Will filter still work with this crack since cotton will not fit through crack like sand would?
Reply
Hi. That is correct, using Aqualoon if the lateral is cracked it can still be used.

I need to replace my lateral assembly and there's 3 options to order. How do I know which one I need? The options are SM1700T, SM1900T and SM2300T
Reply
Hi, Brenda. You will need to measure the diameter of your tank. The SM1700T (17"), SM1900T (18"), and SM2300T (23").

I actually have 2 issues that I believe are related. 1., Losing some sand when I backflush, not a lot, but noticeable, maybe 1/2 cup. 2., as the filter gets dirty, the pressure drops and water flow is reduced. After backflushing, pressure returns to normal, about 15PSI. System is Aquaflow 1HP 2 sp, and a Hayward S180T filter.
Reply
Hi, Don. Losing some sand while backwashing is normal, how much is based on the pump's flow rate. The second issue is normal when the filter gets dirty, the water pressure and flow decrease and the filter pressure increases.

I need a lateral set with pipe mine whole set up is 20 inches long n it's a Hayward. Would that be sx180da?

Hi Tina, Could you please grab the model # off of your filter which should be located on a label on the side of the filter tank? Or could you send us a few photos of your filter? A close up of the label on the filter and a wide shot of the filter? To supply filter model # or photos simply click the reply link below and upload your photos. Once we get any of this information we can make the proper recommendations.
