I need parts for my filter valve. When I look at the filter parts breakdown, it gives me different choices. How do I know which one is the one I need?
Reply
In order to locate the correct parts we will need to know the model number of the filter valve. Two identical filters can have two different valves. Typically the valve model will be located on the label of the valve. If there is no model number on the valve, you can try to see if there are any part numbers on the valve itself. Once you've located you valve model you can check out our >Filter Valve Parts.

when I backwash the water comes out the backwash and the pool outlet what is causing this thank you in advance

Your issue would be a result of a bad spider gasket. If you let us know which filter you have then we could suggest the proper spider gasket.

I changed the sand but after turning on the filter system sand is settling on the floor of my inground pool. Do i need to replace the multi port? I am a newbie and the pool is at least 10 years old.

Hi Bree, I would suggest taking a look at our article on Getting Sand Back in My Pool as it will walk you through common troubleshooting tips to help you figure which item needs to repaired or replaced. In general new sand has alot of finer particles that pass through the filter and back into the pool. This will decrease as the sand settles down. Also with new sand you want to make sure you do not overfill your tank, so you will want to make sure you added the proper amount of lbs. of sand as indicated on your filter label, if you exceed this amount you could get sand back in the pool.

I think I need a new spider gasket but before I take apart my multiport valve (Astral 22358 ) I was hoping you could tell me something so I don't screw up. How do I know what position the value lid needs to be in? I see an arrow on the lid but no marking on the body. Is there another way to know? Thank you!

Mark, Before taking the valve apart, I would recommend marking the top and bottom with a marker or tape so that you will know how to re-install it correctly.

i currently have this system and when I vaccum the pool the dirty water pumps right back into the pool. Do i need a new system?
Reply
Usually dirty water returning back into the pool is a filter issue and not necessarily the valve. I recommend to inspect both the filter and spider gasket in the valve to confim where the damage is. Also if the pool is too dirty, most sand filters can only filter so much before dirt returns back to the pool then it'd need to be backwashed to contimue vacuuming.

Hi, The Top Mount 1 1/2" Multiport Valve does not come with a pressure gauge, you will have to purchase the pressure gauge separately.

I have a Millenium Ultimate Granular Filter and the part number on the multiport valve is 808-0061-2.
The filter when placed in backwash mode still pushes water into the pool and vice versa when it is in filter mode it still pushes water out of the waste dump. I put in a PVC switch to stop that issue, but I do not think the filter is working anymore as when I backwash and then rinse the sand no dirt comes out and the pool is staying dirty.
Is this multiport valve the one that I need>

Hi, Brad. Based on the info provided I'm uncertain if this is the correct replacement valve. If you can send photo of the valve and filter label to upload@inyopools.com we can try to identify the filter and locate the correct valve. It sounds like you may also need to replace the sand in the filter.

Hi William, when water is leaking out of the backwash line this is due to the spider gasket failing. Could you send us a few photos of the valve and label on the top of it? To supply photos simply click the reply link below and upload your photos. Once we get those photos we can make the proper recommendation.

We purchased this sand filter in 2014. Recently water continues to leak out of the waste hose after backwashing and going back to filter. As you can see, the labeling on the top has faded until it is barely legible. Do I need a new spider gasket or should I replace the Top Mount. If I need a Top Mount, is this the replacement mount I would need? If I need a spider gasket, do you carry the one I need and what is the part number?
Thank you for any help you can give.
Hello Bob. The scenario you describe would indicate that the spider gasket is not sealing properly. Information on a replacement spider gasket is as follows: SPIDER GASKET ASTRAL 1 1/2"" MPV's (19028R0204) - 19028-0204. If the entire Top Mount should require replacement, information is as follows: Astral Multiport Valve, Top Mount 1-1/2" - 22358. Click for How To Replace a Spider Gasket Video
