Does the steps on the Merlin AG pool step come in different heights?
Reply
The Merlin step does just come in one size. The height from the bottom of step to the top step is roughly 43" so on a 54" wall pool you have about an 11" step down from the top rail to the first step. The Grand Entrance step on this page is 47" tall for a 7" step down

Will the Merlin AG pool steps work with a 52 in. above ground pool? The deck is about 1.5 to 2 inches below the top of the pool.

The Aqua Staircase is 42.5" high. That would make the step riser a reasonable 9.5" in a 52" deep pool

Does this step system meet Illinois Health Dept regulations for circulation, tread width, riser height? (12" tread width, <= 12 " riser height, good circulation for reduced instances of algae, contrast color to a white-painted, concrete pool. .)
Is the system fastened to the edge of the pool such as using the existing "cupholders" of a standard ladder in the shallow end of a pool (36" water depth)?.

Jerry, To find out if this Merlin AG Pool Step - Aqua Staircase "The King" meets Illinois Health Dept regulations you'll have to contact Merlin Industries, Inc. at 609-807-1000. This Step System can be mounted to your deck using a resin flange ans is 42.5" high not including the handrail so it will be about 6.5" above your water level but may be the right hight to your deck.

Carole, The Merlin AG Pool Step - Aqua Staircase "The King" will be an option if you have a pool deck, if you do not have a pool deck then you can use the Pool Entry System Complete (Inside & Outside Steps W/ Gate).

I am looking for a drop in pool step. At least 42 to 44 inches high but can be as high as 48 inches. I like stainless rails and would like two of them for the stairs. Our pool is 56 inches from floor to top of deck. We like the Oasis model but it is only 33 inches high.
Suggestions. The model shown "The King" looks good but can it come with 2 hand rails and in stainless steel rather than PVC. Thank you.

Does this unit sit in the water by itself or is it weighted with sand?
Reply
This unit sits in the pool and is attached to the pool deck with a deck flange.I f you do not have a pool deck then you can use the Pool Entry System Complete (Inside & Outside Steps W/ Gate). The steps weigh approximately 95 pounds and are not weighted with sand. These steps will not work with a sloped bottom pool.

I do not want to use the deck flange since our deck was built to come right up to the pool, will the sand bags be sufficient to keep steps in place?
Reply
Hello Bob, not attaching a deck flange could cause several dangers, I would contact Merlin Industries to better help you with another way to secure the steps without causing any type of safety hazards www.merlinindustries.com

we want the 2 rail why do you show no, 30125 with 2 hand rails and also the same number with 1 rail?
Reply
Hello Terry, This unit 30125 only comes with 1 railing. We also have Easy Pool Step - NE113 that has 2 rails and plenty of other options in Above Ground Pool Steps.

If you keep up your pool through the winter do have to remove them through the cold months? Will it damage them if you don't?
Reply
Good morning Brenda, This product is made from pvc with stainless steel hardware. You can leave this in the pool if you keep up with water chemistry but if you are going to cover or winterize you will want to remove as the handrail will be in the way of a cover.

There is a (sanded) beveled slope where the pool liner floor meets the pool liner wall. Do the King steps take this into account?
Reply
Hi, G. Roberts. I confirmed with the manufacturer that the step design do take into account the pool cove.
Reply
Can it be used for an in ground pool?
Reply
We don't suggest this step for an inground pool as normally inground pools have a 42" wall meaning you would have to step up from the pool deck to reach the first step.
Reply
Can I use the steps without the handrail? Are they weighted down with the water of the pool or do they need sand?
Reply
Hi, Carrie. The handrail is removable, The step will have to be weighted down with sand or gravel. You can refer to the Aqua Staircase Installation Instructions.

Hi,
Is this stairs made for inground pool as well? and is it easy to install? Also, is it liner friendly?
Reply
Hi. This step is not recommended for use in an inground pool. It is easy to install and safe for vinyl liners using a Step Pad.

Helllllppppp!!! Last year my pool guy had to cut the deck flange because the bolts were rusted on. Do you sell the deck flange for the Merlin King ' Wedding Cake Steps? If so I will order now. Thanks in advance.

If I don't have a deck level with the pool but rather steps up with no place to attach the resin flange what should I do? Is this not the appropriate kind of steps for my semi-unground pool? Can the flange be hooked onto the railing of the pool?
Thank you

Hi. Unfortunately, the Deck Flange is not meant to be mounted to the pool's top rail, it can ruin it. The Aqua Staircase Instructions provides you with instructions for using a shim if that is applicable to your situation.

I was wondering if you sold the rock/sand bags that came with these steps? i would like an extra set just incase I need them.
Reply
Hi, Donna. Unfortunately, we do not sell the sand or rocks used to anchor this step.

What kind of material can you put in the bags to weigh these steps down. We have the King steps and they come with 3 bags. How much weight should go in each bag? The directions do not say.
Reply
Mary, you would use COURSE PRE-WASHED GRAVEL, ROUNDED STONES OR SAND and fill the bags supplied with the Merlin Merlin AG Pool Step - Aqua Staircase "The King" . There is no weight specified by the manufacturer, we apologize.
Reply
How high is each step. My deck is 54 inches and I have difficulty with high risers. Can a second hand rail be put on for a fee?
Reply
We apologize for the inconvenience, however, we do not have the specific dimensions of the individual steps. The Aqua Staircase is 42.5" high. That would make the step riser a reasonable 9.5" in a 52" deep pool.

have the duke steps -bought at litehouse 6yrs ago-love them but this year there is a crack about 5 inches long where the se 2nd step meets the 3rd-right along floor on 3rd step-any ideas how to repair
Reply
Hello, Unfortunately, we would not know how to repair them. We would recommend contacting the manufacturer with that question.

I removed the king steps from the pool do I have to store indoors for winter or just put a cover over them
Reply
Hi John, you can keep the steps outdoors and cover them for the winter as long as you are certain that there are no spots where water can accumulate and freeze which could damage it.
